I'm looking for some opinions on what brand and model mufflers to drop into my 68 Charger. Its a healthy but stock 383 with a factory style reproduction dual exhaust system in it. I'm not looking to change the whole system, just looking to get the right level of sound out of it. The stock mufflers are too quiet. I pulled them out and dropped in a pair of glass packs I had in the garage and they are too loud, especially inside the car (and too raspy sounding when I'm accelerating hard). I'm looking for something in the middle - quiet enough not to be annoying when I'm just cruising, but enough sound when I get on the car to remind me its a muscle car. I was looking at the Flowmaster 50 series Delta Flow mufflers online. Anyone have any thoughts on these or other suggestions? Like I said, I want to retain the stock exhaust manifolds and 2 1/4 factory system and just swap out the mufflers and looking for a somewhat mello sound while cruising, but throatie sound when accelerating.

ill be paying close attention to this because im looking for the same thing for my 70

DynoMax Turbos. Sweet, no drone.

I put Flowmaster 50's on mine because they were rated as being quieter than the 40 series. They do sound good, but still are louder than I wanted. I am going to try the Dynomax next time.

I found this on ebay 2 1/4 " ???? seems restrictive. I need a new dual system, factory would be fine for me.. right now some fabbed up a 2" y pipe system on the car and it needs to go...LOL

I cant seem to fine anything else....... all other listings and even at summit are header back.. I have stock manifolds and are not going to throw the money on those tt headers right now

I have the Dynomax "Hemi" Turbos (long case 17747) on my 66 Newport. Sounds nice, and close to stock. I had the factory b-body mufflers on it before and i liked them too, but the Dynomax sounds better IMO.
