Hi folks,

Slowly getting the car ready for restoration to go to the body shop.

Question:
I would like to remove the heater box. I already have the dash out. The car will sit for about 2 months before we get it into the shop but I'd like to start restoring the heating box now.
Do I need to drain the radiator? I was worried about leaving the radiator empty for a long period as it may start to rust or scale. Can I simply remove the heather hoses from the firewall and cap them off? That way I can keep the fluid in the system?

thoughts?

Sure , you can do it either way. It really won't hurt the radiator to sit without coolant. You could drain the coolant and reuse it if its fresh . Otherwise just replace it.

got it. I just capped the hoses and pulled the heater box.
