Well I seem to have a leak , does not happen all the time but I don`t think its from after manifold ,think its from manifold. car realy gets the smell of exhaust at times I think I can hear at times but I am not sure.Anyone give sugestions on what to do next? Want to do headers but its a poly so they are not cheep ,can put them on but have to take some were to do the welding . Thanks

If your exhaust manifold gaskets are original or aged, replace them. Sometimes there is a small leak by the heat riser valve, vestigate to see if there are any black ,sooty areas.
When you find it, you'll have found your exhaust leak.

thanks for the reply,I plan to use penetrating oil for a couple of days then try to remove the manifolds and nuts , first time I will bedoing this on anything this old so I am alittle concerned.
