Posted it over on FEBO already and now I want to share it with you B-body people, because when it comes down to it, it is still a MOPAR!.
It was advertised as a `70 Challenger R/T parts car and it was cheap!!!.
It is not an R/T(it just looks like one) but it is a #'s matching 340 console auto car that is wearing its original burnt orange paint and came with the burnt orange interior with the black vinyl top and bumble-bee stripe. It has a clear title, a minty broadcast sheet and a rusty fender tag that I haven't tried to read yet, but I did decode the broadcast sheet and it was a nicely optioned car. Tinted glass(still has the Scat Bee sticker on quarter glass), 15 x7 ralleys(missing, came with 14's with pollyglass tires still on them), non-ralley cluster but with the clock, light group, power steering, H.D. 11" drums all the way around(already put discs on the front),974 radiator still there, etc..
Doors are original and rock solid but it's missing a few things, seats, console, hood, exhaust manifolds, air cleaner. I have already picked up a lot of what it was missing, decent trunk lid, very nice front bumper, front and rear valance, taillight set, rear end, front spindals 2 piece rotors with calipers that were on a full front crossmember from a `70 car which also included sway bar. Also got a whole front subframe with nice inner fenders, front rails, torsion bar crossmember and cowl. Also found a full set of buckets with tracks from a `70 car for a good price, hopefully go look at those today.
Not sure what I am going to do with it after I make it a complete project car, I might try to turn it over and get the `68 Charger that I really want or just stash it away for the next project I do after the "JUNKYARD DOG" is finished.
What would you guys do and would any of you be interested in this car, taking offers I guess.

Cool, I like the "do not touch" on the fender....

The P.O. was probably confused because you could have a "CUDA" with a 340, but not an R/T (with a 340). You could have a Challenger with a 340 and have everything else associated with an R/T on the car, but you could not have an R/T with a 340

Just another of the odd things Ma did back then

That would be an A66 option, which as stated above is basically a 340 R/T without the R/T emblems. BTW, the standard bumblebee stripe was painted on rather than a decal.

To true. And the longitudinal stripe was just like the R/T, but without the "R/T" on the fender, and was a tape stripe.

My offer is to be your very bestest friend forever, if you give it to me. Yeah I know, wishfull thinking. Save it for later.

I had an A66 with B5 over B5 and wish I never parted with it. A friend has it out-of-state and I asked him to give me a chance to buy it back if he ever decided to sell it. Fat chance! He loves that car.

Thanks for the input all, it is very tempting to keep it and I am liking the idea of keeping it more and more as I clean it up and gather parts. It will be a beautiful car when finished and how much fun would a small block E-body be to drive?. My father has a `71 Challenger conv. with a 383 in it and although a very kool car(1 picture of it in my galleries) and a nice cruiser, it doesn't handle all that well bone stock with all that BB weight up front. A 340, on the other hand, will be fun. Still want that `68 Charger R/T though, and if I sell the Challenger, I could have one. Ideally, I would keep the Challenger, finish the Road runner, restore the Challenger and buy and restore the Charger:rolling:

Ok....let's see PROOF of a 70 Challenger R/T factory equipped with a 340.

A more correct question would have been did they make ANY year challenger R/T's with a 340?

And you'll love this. You couldn't get a Challenger R/T or a Cuda in 1971 with a 440 4V....only a Six Pack

Cool, I like the "do not touch" on the fender....

When I went to pick it up it had no suspension under it and was sitting on two old jackstands in the back and one, hopefully empty, propane tank in the front. That is why it said "do not touch" on it.
Man, am I glad to have gotten it out of there!

I had an original slant 6 70 Challenger back in the 80's and that's the only one I ever seen.

Nice car you got there. 340 Challengers don't seem to come around very often so I'd say put it together and drive the wheels off it!

Just got a '66 Charger, good shape and looking forward to working on that. The wifes first car was a Challenger, wish she still had it. Looks like a great project.

I had a /6 Challenger as a parts car when I was restoring my Six Pack. It was FE5, black bucket interior, and was an auto on the column. I also know someone who bought an orange one.....after the /6 had been removed as a spare for a forklift

I Had a /6 70 Challenger Convertible.....It ended up being a donor car because there were 2 weak spots in the corners behind the back seat where the Top Well leaked....Hell I Parted everything out on it and made money off of it but ended up making about $1800(EIGHTEEN HUNDRED)Dollars off of it...BIG Money back then(Early 80's).Now I Could Get at LEAST Twice that out of the Top Irons and Top(NOTHING Wrong with the top at all).

Oh Well...Live and Learn...I Guess The HEMI Cars that I Crushed were Mistakes Too.....
