I saw a ad on craiglist for a 72 charger in my area(southern WV) but it didnt have a price, i messaged the guy and he sent some pics of the car and it looks good.... here's what he's said about it so far....

It is a 1972 Charger all original has a 318HO engine very clean car inside and out no rust has been in storage for about 3 years has new brakes exhaust polyurthine bushings car sounds awesome car is in really good shape for the year. Has many good options such as the hidedway headlights bucket seats slap shifter rear defroster .
.......

So whats a Fair price, just asking for suggestions, I haven't went and looked at it in person, but if it is rust-free as he says(frame included) what should the price be around? Just needing a starting point on it, THANKS

Nice looking car. But the fact he says it's a "318HO" would make me pretty wary.

Ain't no such animal

Generally I would let the seller specify the price for starters........................

He has once he said 9,500 and now he's said $8,500. But If the car is just a 5 grand ride I dont want to overpay, me and him have both been busy and I havent had a chance to see it in person yet, I was curious to know some opinions so I could make a offer if I do like it

Keep a dialogue open with the seller and get a feel for things. Do you have much competition looking at the car and has it been for sale for a while. What kind of work has it had done and what does it need. How many miles are on it.
If all is good the sellers price seems is fairly in line in my opinion. Make him a reasonable offer a little lower than you would pay and see what happens.

Tell the man there is no such thing as a 318BHO and offer 5995 and don't give over 7000 for it. you'll be OK at that and in real good shape as the economy recovers. It would cost you 20,000 to put a rust bucket with bad seats in the shape that car is in.

Something doesn't look quite right with that rear bumper.

Check for signs of rear end body work.

Also check the cowl and door hinge area REAL close.
I'd remove the screen over the pass side cowl, put my arm in, and check the vent lip.

I'd agree with the 6-7K area unless it's ultra clean and solid and everything works.
