What would be a good carb and intake to put on a stock 400 motor? The only things that have been done are removal of the lean burn and a set of headers. The motor is out of a 76 gran fury.

Dual plane with about 650 CFM. Stock cast iron with TQ or AVS would be good and cheap. Performer or old DP4B with a 625 AFB or vac secondary Holley also good. I currently have a 625 AFB on a factory 69 Road Runner intake on a bone stock high mile single exhaust 383. Runs good, except lacking top end. Gee, I wonder why.......

For mostly street and a bit of "spirited" driving from time to time MY choice would be either a DP4B or an M1 dual plane with a Carter AVS (625 cfm) or a new Edelbrock AFB copy

I really love the Street Avenger series Holley came out with. Throttle response is awesome. I also like performer intakes...

You'll need kickdown linkage for a 4V, although I suppose it might be possible that some 2V stuff might work. An alternative is a Lokar cable for the kickdown. They are fairly easy to install and adjust. I've done several, and have one on my Duster right now

None of the manifold side of my 66 2 BBL stuff worked on the 4 BBL swap. I had to "borrow" from my 68 RR. Hoffman makes good repo brackets and stuff but does not sell direct. Here's a list of his retailers -

Note: I have an Edelbrock AFB with the MoPar adapter on a cast intake and I had to tweak the cable bracket a little, which may mean the factory AVS has a slightly different dimension for the throttle arm. All works fine so no big deal.

Totally on Meep!! i have an Edelbrock carb with a stock intake and one time the cable stuck in one position got almost to WOT, shut her down real quick...all it took was bending the bracket slightly inward (right to left if you're look at da motor) and presto!!! works like a charm, and no more sudden revs up to 6 grand!

I forgot to mention that this is a 4 barrel car already. Would an older non lean burn carb be direct fit with the factory linkages?

I'm guessing you currently have a TQ with electronic feedback? Just get a non lean burn TQ. I'd say 1972-75 or so (71 TQ's are kind of hard to find).

How are those Lokar cables??? I need for my 67 Hemi Coronet and dont feel like paying thru the nose for stock Mopar piece??

They work really well, and are fairly easy to install and adjust. I've put them on cars before and have one on my Duster. They can be installed and adjusted in an hour or so....depending on how well equipped your shop is
