Hey guys,

Just bought my 3rd Mopar and found this site.

Always loved Mopars cause they have character and aren't "dime'a dozen".

My first was a '71 Duster with a done 340 in it and big bias plys. tough to drive but man that thing was a rocket. Sold it for $2,500 after the guy I bought it from failed to tell me it had solid lifters that needed to be adjusted. Eventually i dropped a valve and that was the end of that. Yes I should have kept and restored it. That was about 25 years ago.

Second was a '74 Challenger 4spd with a built 440 6 pak. That car hauled too as you can imagine (or know) but it needed some major bucks to restore and the rust was getting away from me. Sold it for $7,500 about 8 years ago

Now I just bought a '71 GTX of Ebay with the fresh air hood and the whole bit. I had it trucked from Ohio to my cousins friends speed shop in Washington state where he's still sorting it out. Solid straight car, some minor issues, and the interior could use redoing.

Its not the original color and the bumpers have been painted to sort of match. Im on the fence whether I'm going to restore to original or paint it my favorite color one day. I'm turned on my those elastomeric/eyebrow front bumpers too althought I know they are extremely rare.

:)

Welcome, sounds like some good stuff. Be sure to post some pics when you get it home.

Welcome. It's your car, so you should do what YOU want with it.

BUT.....if selling it is a possibility, then keeping it as close to original as possible will bring the most money...............unless you put a Hemi in it lol

Hey there Norrth;
I'm just south of you in Cedar and have a 71 Road Runner and 72 Satellite( along with my Charger and Barracuda) if you ever want to chat, feel free to PM me...sounds like we'll have alot in common with this body style, as I plan on making the '72 look alot like a GTX. Congrats on the purchase...post pics asap!

Thanks for the warm welcome.

Well here's the pictures that enticed me to hit the "Buy it Now" button

Nice car. Like the color. Think I'd drop the nose an inch or two

agreed and thks.I was thinking the same thing. I'll have to figure out how to do that as the car does seem to sit a little high at the front and back.

The original color was Sherwood Green so its not too far off. Classy imo but not exactly "high impact"

Dont you just twist the big nuts on the torsion bars? I guess you'd have to keep track of how many turns you do on each side.

You can back off the torsion bar adjusters but this will affect camber (wheel alignment). Spend the bucks and have an alignment shop help you out!

Yup...that's how it's done. Bet you'll find they're screwed almost all the way in. And do like 66 says. Have the alignment checked.

Wow very nice car!

Though mopars are my favorite's that ford back there caught my eye as well!

I agree with everyone though you should have the front lowered a couple inches.

You guys dont think the rear is sitting an inch or two too high either? Maybe its got 14" wheels..

I'm still trying to figure out if those wheels (Magnum's?) every came on the car or only Rally's were options.

They're dyno'ing the car this aft and I pick the car up tomorrow. The anticipation is killing me, especially to find out what motor its got in it, numbers matching or what.

They might be 14", but they kinda look like 15" (Mopar only used that wheel in a 14 while Ford offered a 15"). I wouldn't mess with the rear till the front was down some

but that's just me

Got the car home late last night and they are 15s. However, these cars scream for big fat tires and I need to get something wider on it. Considering sending them off to add an inch to the rim and maybe put a one inch spacer if thats possible. It appears there's room for an inch on either side. For some strange reason its sitting on new snow tires  :edgy:

A friend" of mine had a set of 15X10 under his 69 GTX with 295s (I think) and he had done NO cutting on the car. Wish I knew what offset they were.
