Should I make a custom hood Ornament?

Hey there, I'm 17 and from Wisconsin.

Just got my first muscle car, a 1966 Plymouth Satellite 318 poly numbers matching car *As most of you probably know 66 was the last year of the poly* 3 on the tree.

It's a project car for me and my dad to do before I go off to college sometime late next year.

It needs a patch in the passenger floor board, one quarter completely replaced, the other we can save, Oh the owner included two quarters in the sale, he also delivered the car! *About a 50 mile trip*

All for the extremely high price of... 2,250. He wanted 2500 but we talked him down to 2250, pretty good deal I'd say.

I've loved muscle cars since I was about twelve, I remember playing the game Gran Turismo and loving the Dodge Viper. Now most people don't consider it a muscle car but I sure do!

Anyways here is a pic of me with the car, yes I have really long hair and yes I am a guy. haha.

UPDATE!!!!!!

I just ordered these rims about two hours ago!

I will be posting pictures of the removal of the old ones and the placement of these as soon as they get here.

Oh sizes are 15's in the front and 16 1/2's in the back.

Oh and I am going to be doing Biggs and Littles *For those who don't know... how could you not know?!?! Small tires in the front big in the back*

Anyways thanks everyone! I will be sure to keep you updated on the resto, Oh and just so everyone knows I'm not going to be doing what kids today seem to be doing with muscle cars, that is putting 20 inch+ rims on their muscle cars.

Anyways we are looking for a complete wiring harness but can't seem to find any complete ones. Might just have to get seperate wirings from some place like year one, Oh also here is a video of it revving, Audio quality is baddd though.

Ignore the ford truck in the background haha, told my dad he should have gotten an SRT-10 but he wouldn't listen.
 
They pretty much just make harness for under the hood. I got one of their engine harnesses for the Duster. Nice quality
 
Hey what does everyone think of this idea, Since I can't find any hood ornaments I simply make a custom one? I was thinking of using some belt buckles for bands I like. Anyways I would make a couple of custom ones and of course find an original and swap them out every now and then.

Good price even if it does need work... I'd say stick with the original hood ornament!! But I do Luv Megadeth & Zep - Great bands!
btw, I do have a 361 hood ornament for a 66'.. pm me if interested..

Thanks! Yeah pretty much the day we bought it I looked up all I could about the car and found it was a Poly motor *aka semi-hemi* which I thought was pretty cool.

Oh no worries, Other than a few custom things *Raising the rear end a couple of inches, That or just get air ride suspension* and to be really cool I'd maybe put a big spoiler on the back with neons under the car..... :rolling::rolling::rolling:
 
A pair of shackles in the back, to clear some street slicks, was normal back in the day.
But keep in mind, if you do that, you're going to get challenged on the street ALOT !
You better bore and stroke that poly, or swap in a 440 before you shackle it.
Myself, I'm partial to a maxed out poly with tri-power or dual quads.
440's are a dime a dozen.
You can find a hood ornament, I've seen them for just about every motor. Or make a custom one...it's your car now, you can make it your own. Have fun with it.
 
Thanks gomopar, street slicks are something I plan on doing once I either max out the engine or get a replacement engine for when I go to the track... or street haha.

Nah I don't plan on street racing this thing... much. But if a ricerboy lines up next to me and revs his 4 cylinder then I might be inclined to race him.

Now that I've thought about it I am gonna make a few custom hood ornaments but I will find the original, Custom for cruising, original for car shows.
 
UPDATE HERE BECAUSE I CAN'T EDIT MY POST!

Found a complete wiring harness from summit racing, Dunno why I didn't look there before!

But before we get that we're going to get a carb, the one that's on there isn't the original one and it doesn't really fit on the intake manifold that well therefore we are losing about 50% of our power! Some guy said we should take it to a car show and put a sign that says "Barn fresh on it" hahahaha.

Any suggestions on carbs? I was thinking a holley carb would be nice, as for manifolds I've not a clue haha.
 
Give us some specifics on the intake and carb. Also, Year One will probably have the correct harnesses for your car.
