Well I have finally decided to take my old 67' dodge b body and change it from a street strip car to a pro-touring ride.
Plan are rms suspension front and back, 6.1 hemi, not sure on the transmission i need or want, big brakes, and big wheels.

I want to run viper brakes and large wheels to clear them like 18", there is not room to fit these on the coronet, does the RMS rear suspesion help me fit bigger wheels? Anyone know what size or type of wheels I could run with that suspsion or what mods i would have to do to fit some bigger meats?

Secondly, what is a good straight forward transmission swap? I know the sb 727 is popular but i would prefer more then 3 gears if possible.

Third,
McLeod is going to release a modular big block bellhousing.

This is a quote from "thenewhemi" website. Does this mean they are going to be making a adapter to fit a BB727 to a 5.7/6.1 hemi??

Thanks for the help guys!

Welcome to the site.Lots of good info here

If you check the RMS forum, there is a lot of info on wheels what fits, tire -offset and such, I think you very informative.

Check my thread late model hemi into early b bodys--lots of good info.

is anyone doing the 6.1 swap here?

Yep - I have a 6.1 in my 68 Charger....

To answer some of your questions -

Transmission: if you want an auto you could go with a 518 OD, or a 727 with Gear Vendor's unit

Wheels: Mini-tub the rear for added clearance... could go with RMS "Street Lynx" system for something "trick"

Brakes: there are plenty of brake upgrades out there - I am working on a 14" kit with Brembo calipers I will be offering in the future for a decent price - Also 13" kits with PBR calipers....

Thanks for the info, do you have your 6.1 build info online?

nice thread thanks for that post. i would like to see that car when its done.

Look for user AndyF on either Moparts or BigBlockDart forums. He's the big brake king for Mopars. Viper, Porsche calipers etc...

Any questions your have about the RMS suspension can be answered over at BBD as well (I have an AlterKtion myself).

Scroll down on this very forum to "B Body stiffening" thread and you will see 07 Charger disc brakes all aroung on a 70 GTX with an alterktion. You will also see a w5a580 5 speed transmission behind a 5.7 hemi mounted in the same GTX...with detailed pics of how we did it.
Have not measured for back space yet but I know for sure 18x8 rims will fit so that makes a 10" wide tire work as well. looks close to a 41/2" back space will be what I end up with.
My big bummer right now is business sucking due to economy which SEVERELY limits my funds as well as free time to work on car.
