Kind of throwing this out at work...so bare with me if it is sporadic...

I've got an 8AN fitting coming out of the sump...I ultimately want it reduced down to 3/8" line or NPT etc...

I would prefer black anodized fittings.

Does anyone know of a 90 degree 8AN fitting that reduces to 3/8 NPT or 3/8 Barb?? Again, black would be the sinister color of choice (picky, I know, but this needs to look right...not like some mix n match rainbow).

The cell's fitting is an -8AN male thread...I just found a blue anodized fitting that is -8 Female to 3/8" NPT male...Problem is, $30 frickin dollars!!! :mad:

Is there a better way to go about this?

Am I better off to run an 8AN to 6AN reducer right off the cell's fitting, then follow it with a simple and affordable -6AN to 3/8" barb or 3/8" NPT??

Or is it better to run an 8AN 90 degree fitting, some -8 hose, and then deal with reducing it later?

This is a 15 gallon cell, 2" sump...I'll have an electric fuel pump (most likely candidates are 3/8" NPT or my old one, 3/8" barb). It will be feeding a mild 440, but hopefully a stroker at some point (hence me sizing it for down the road).

I am also likely to replace my stock fuel lines with 3/8"...And on yet another likely quest to dissapoint myself, anyone know of some 3/8" SS lines...coated in black???

Just trust me on the black thing...It'll look killer if I can set it up like I'm wanting too :D
 
Also, I know there are blue anodized 8AN Female to 3/8" NPT straight fittings...but I worry about the length (coupled with a 90) causing some clearance issues...Haven't built the cage for the cell, but I can see it being tight :confused:
 
You could run a 8an line from the cell in to the fuel pump then 3/8npt out. Actually you should run from the cell, to a filter then the pump.

yeah, totally forgot about the filter in the post, but it will be there!

I'd hope the 3' of 8AN line would get me to the pump...That stuff starts to ring up pretty quick, then again my stainless hard lines would too :lol:

Is anyone even plumbing their street/strip cars with hardline anymore or has everyone switched over to braided? I ran hard line on the Duster with stainless braid at flex points...
 
I used 3/8" aluminum on my Barracuda from the pump to the engine bay.
 
Run as large of a line to, as large of a filter, to the inlet side of the pump. It will keep the pump spinning at the same speed and cooler than when it cavitates when running low from the supply side.

I use 12 to two filters into a single monster pump to keep it fed and cool.

I also use also use a rstat to regulate the pump speed to correspond to the engine speed.

So theoretically I could run an -8AN F x -8AN 90 degree M, "x" ft of -8AN braided line, and then an -8AN to 3/8NPT Male fitting to the pump...Then exit the pump with the -6 AN braid or 3/8" hard line and it would pretty much be ideal?

Good info on the pump running cooloer and cavitating...

Is aluminum acccepted by the major sanctioning bodies (NHRA,IHRA)? I loved working with it on the Duster...so easy to bend, super light, and looks awesome!
