I have looked every where and was wondering what kind of power i will gain going to a Indy 440 ez head over a stock head, I have found all kinds of forums but no actual numbers to look at. I want HP #S, I also kno it depends on cam etc....etc.. but im just wondering what kind of HP they can produce ?

Thanks to anyone with some info on this

Well the numbers wil depend on what is done to them.! And the hp gains.!
I have a set of indy sr heads with mild port work and they flowed 335.5 @ 700 lift and my current motor is making 580 hp and 600 ft tq with just .040 over and mild solid lift cam, headers, etc.
Contact indy or a good mopar shop that works with these heads and ask what they have got out of these heads, also write mopar action or mopar muscle magazine, or moparts and see if they have any info.!

I say both of you. LOL! But mostly the OE poster since it is his thread and is the one looking for answers.

Head ?

I have Sr HEADS also,Indy Max Alum Block,11 to 1 comp, roller cam,451cu inch Holley 950 CFM CARB,dynoed by Indy at 650 hp,it was a steet setup.
Car thur the mufflers RUNS MIDDLE 10's 130 mph.
The setup was built for florida temps, pretty trouble free motor

My car is pretty stock as of right now it has a 509 purple shaft cam i think ? My dad installed it and then give the car to me and forgot the cam specs, it has springs etc.. to support the cam and thats about it and has a 600 holley right now, Im in the middle of converting it to electronic ignition and doing away with those damn points. The motor may have a hour of running time on it not much at all its a project for me, Im only 23 and trying to restore this car in new for me as i was a 4th gen camaro owner but got rid of my 93 & 96 now i have this so if i get on yalls nerves asking questions just be patient with me because im a newb lol

Aha! We can always spot a cheby guy! Its called a Sure-grip! Just kidding bro, I still have a 86 Z28 for sale, [email protected]. Left over from my "Un-enlightend" days! Sorry for the shameless plug! HaHa. Between Mopes and Choppers, there aint much money to go around!

Yeah i love my 68 but i have a week spot for 4th gen Camaros, I guess cause it was my first car, I havent even rode in my 68 yet i hope when i do it will make me forget about those camaros

What engine? I think your Holley 600 is probably too small no matter which engine you have. I had a 383 in a 1970 Challenger R/T SE that was running the .484 purple shaft with a Holley 600 on it when I got it. Had an extra 750 sitting around, so I put it on the 383 and it was a noticeable improvement.

The engine is a 440, i was thinking it maybe to small also but its all i have right at the moment and im just trying to get the quinks worked out, I was having to fire it up let it run about 5 min then shut it down dew to a small radiator but i just got a new 3 core radiator and now im in the middle of switching the distributor to electronic, so its never really had time to sit and run and let me tune on it , We had the small radiator on it so we could start it every now and then, i also gotta run the transmission lines, mount the tranny cooler, wire my gages up, clean out my gas tank and install new pick up (which i ordered 2 day) swap the 3.91 gears in, hook my shifter to tranny, drain tranny put new filter & fluid, find a kick down linkage that runs from carb to tranny, Check brakes and make sure there not bad, That about sums it all up just a bucnh of little things, But i hope to have it going by april 17 so i can make it to mopars at the ROCK!!!

Hey Madmike, On a 512 with Big EZ cnc heads, Indy 440-2, .700" solid roller 280/290 @ .050, 1050 dominator, 12.5 comp.,2 " headers made 748 hp and 670 ft/lbs of torque in cold dyno room air. The engine was run on 110 VP then changed carb over to 1050 built for E85 (106 summer blend). It made a few more hp and similar torque. The reason for the change is VP is $9.00/ gal and E85 $2.25 around here. The Indy heads make great power, the owner stuck with the EZ head for exhaust header fit, and he did not want to blow another grand on new tti headers. The combo runs real smooth. Good luck.

damn those are some good #s thanks for sharing !!!

...............With ur combo ur better off keeping ur iron heads, recurving thr electronic dist, 750 vs carb, good wires + coil...decent exhaust.....u dont need indys 2 get an easy 500hp....a 28-3000 stall will help lots.............if u have less than 10.-1 comp.....u will b wasting ur time and money on alum heads...................kim........
