Hi Guys,
I could use a little help please. I am about to rebuild the front suspension on my 72 Satellite. I purchased a set of lower control arms (separately) with provisions for a front sway bar. After blasting and painting them I noticed that the sway bar mount is in a different location. I did some digging on the internet (http://www.hotchkis.net/early_mopar_control_arm_bracket.html) and found that there are 2 versions of B body LCA's. The 71-72 (and possibly later) have the sway bar mount more in the middle of the LCA while the 70 and older has the mount closer to the outer end. I can fabricate and weld a new mount in the middle location but what I need to know is if the B body old vs new are are the same dimensions other than that. Luckily I did not weld in the LCA stiffener plates yet.
Also....does anyone have a link to a DIY garage crude front end alignment that will get me about 10 miles to the shop without wiping out my tires? I am going with poly bushings (except LCA) and tubular upper control arms.

Thanks and MoPar to ya.

Isn't it just amazing what you can learn on the internet these days. I dont know how we learned about car repair 20 years ago!

I do still carry a tape measure in the tool box.

I'm pretty sure the control arms are the same (except the sway bar mounts).

Quick and dirty front end alignment: Caster can be best guess and if you're way off it will pull to one side. It will pull to the side that has the least amount of positive caster. Camber can be PET (precision eyeball technique). Pick a spot on the tire tread front and back and use a tape measure to set toe. Adjust the toe last.

Thanks Meep. I measured them up and they do look the same. I also asked the Mancini Racing Tech guys while placing an order and they said the same. I wound up fabricating a mount for the right side sway bar. Now on to the front end rebuild and alignment. I am going with poly bushings, tubular upper control arms and HD tortion bars (.96?).

I think the HD torsion bars are .96...

I just got the factory performance Firm Feel bars (HEMI spec I think) and I'm pretty sure they are .940".
