383 to 440 engine swap question

You need a 402 oil pan #2532401.
You will need a pick-up tube for the 402 oil pan.
I would suggest you install a windage tray, good for about 15 horsepower.
You can use the stock intake and carb and no problems.
The motor is a direct interchange.
The motor you have is to be used with a automatic transmission.

Its a direct interchange.

Where do you get 15 h.p.? The factory only showed a 5 h.p. difference on standard vs. HP 383s & 440s and that included higher compression, larger cam, AND the windage tray.

I have just done this swap so its fresh in my mind. Kickdown linkage is different for 383 to 440 ( deck height difference ). I used a milodon 8 qt. pan no issues. Plenty of room for headers but mite want to upgrade to a mini starter or go cheaper route ( late model ram starter ). Im running a permormer rpm with thunder series carb. Mancini selsl taller throttle brackets to accommodate the taller intake. Easy swap in my opinion.
