Ok when I pump gas at chevron, shell, 76 and mobile I have a hell of a time finding a good angle to hold the pump so that it doesnt spill gas out the spout of the gas filler neck. any tricks to getting it to hold itself in place and not spill?

Is the filler behind the lic. plate??? mine is, and i've tried twenty different ways to fill it w/o spilling, and the only remedy i've come up with is squatting behind the car and holding the damned thing, and listening to it fill, when it gets louder, you're almost there! :HappyNewYear:

nope, mine is on the side of the rear drivers side fender but dang, having to cop a sqwat all the damn time sucks MarPar! Well for your sake and the sake of everyone at the gas pumps near you, you do not wear tennis shorts...!

Maybe if you place a Chiquita sticker on you might have some luck.

That thing that the kid posted a link to might help hold the nozzle in the filler tube. Those nozzles used to be a larger diameter "in the old days" when you could buy REAL gas. But if I remember correctly, I always had issues while filling my 67 Satellite vert. Has to do with all the bends in the filler tube.

On another note.......if you had a 68 up B body (except Charger) you could enjoy watching your money pour out on the ground every time you launched cause the filler was behind the license plate.

I think the guys working the starting line at the track loved MOPARS best for that. They got lots of mop time :rolling:

If the gun has the rubber cup on it, try pushing that as close as possible to the car to seal so when the tank is full the gun is able to sense the back pressure and auto-stop.

IDK... maybe you have already tried this???

You may want to use a bib made of gasoline resistant material.
If you cut it to fit any fuel tha tmay spill will drip along the bib and onto the ground.
I own a '67 Satellite and know what you've been through.

68 Charger, I do that now, its just a pain to have to apply so much pressure to get a seal... i dont see how that item in the link posted would help, i dont know how or where to place it.

You have to insert the item into your filler neck. It will resemble the newer style "unleaded" filler neck. Havent had that problem myself yet but if I ever do I think I would look around in the junk yards for a "unleaded" neck that is similer and replace the old one.

i'm in the same boat as marpar havin to pop a haji squat at the pumps. 74 runner, wish i could jus move the dang thing. but i love my huge back quarters panels too much..lol
