What is the stock appearance (color etc.) of the rear axle on a 69 RR with the 8.75" rear?

Any specific markings that are stock correct?

What about the springs and perches?

I am assuming it is either black or uncoated. If someone has a pic that would help too.

(Should this be in another category mods???)

Anybody have a comment on finish of the 8.75 rear?

Here's a picture of the rear end of our restored '68 Coronet. It's painted the same way as the '70 Road Runner rear end that I purchased a few years ago.

here are some 69 chunk markings, also I have seen a lot of org B bodies with a yellow B marking on the rear of the housing.
This chunk was removed from a 35,000 mile car

The original paint markings on my '68 3.23 SureGrip were a little different than your '69. Looking at the lower of the 2 pictures, mine was painted orange near the large flange (like yours) but painted with a white stripe along the bottom (in the area where yours is yellow).

I'm sure plants vary some as do the people doing the markings. Also 68 is a 742 and this is a 489, different sure grips and possible reason for different marks. I know a 489 with 2 yellow strips will indicate a 2 series ring and pinion and 3 strips will indicate a 3 series ring and pinion. This is a 489 case 2:76 sure grip.

By 68 B-body rear 8-3/4 had a large "B" painted on the rear center section. It appeared to be yellow.

Thats the B I spoke of earlier, I have seen many 68 and 69's with that marking. No pic's right now, but I'll see If I can get one of my car.

1969 Dodge Charger Rear Help

I have a 69 Dodge Charger with an original rear. It is not a posi. How hard would it be for me to make it a posi ? Would it be cost effective to replace the whole rear with a posi ? Or can I make my one legger into a posi ? I am looking not to kill my wallet either. If anyone could help me out, I would greatly appreciate it, I don't have that much knowledge in rear's. So i am asking you guys for help.

Mopar Websites

Also does anyone know of any good mopar sites that sells parts ? I know about yearone. The Paddock closed, is there anyone other one's out there ? Thanks.

Differentials

CHAZ..
If you have the welded cover 8 3/4 then Mancini Racing as well as a number of others sell complete limited slip differential units, drop right in. Mancini and Randy's Ring and Pinion sell replacement parts, and the Randy's website has a huge amount of technical info, dowloads, etc. about drivetrains in general.
Once again I point you to your factory manual....... If you own old Mopars, it ought to be a requirement of registration, just like liabilty insurance......
Here, however, is a link from the boys at Mopar Muscle on building the 8 3/4.
Good luck, Mike.

Can Anyone clear up the question of whether the backing plates are natural steel or black. I have seen them both and painted my 3rd member and backing plates with Eastwood Spray Gray. I saw a concours resto where he painted them like I did but cannot find any pics of what is what?
