As a foreigner to these shores, should I truck my Charger across the country or get out and drive it. Now the heart says put some miles on it, but the head says hmmm is that a wise thing to do. What do members think?

What is your starting point and final destination? What route will you be taking and when do you plan on doing this? Depending on the timing and weather in these areas, they might be contributing factors?

I am all for driving the car but it really up to you and if you feel comfortable doing so. Do you also have the funds and time to make the trip? There's a lot of factors here. Give us more information when you get a chance.

You also might want to factor in the possibility of breakdowns. If something snaps/breaks/explodes (knock on wood) will you have the time to repair it or trailer it and still make your shipping deadline?

Thanks for the replies.

Yeah some more info would have been smart at the start. I was looking to drive from Ky to Ca and then ship. Speedy I think you're on the money with the breakdown threat (although I am not so keen on the exploding side) is probably a swaying factor. Funds aren't really a problem, within limits, but time could be a bit limited (3 weeks max). I've driving in a number of countries including the autobahns in a tiny Corolla (not mine) so I'm confident I'd find my way around.

Thanks guys for your replies

I've ridden my Harley through OZ. so I know what you are thinking. No, you will not be stranded in the "outback" here! Help is never far away. It just seems like it. Just make sure you have a cell phone that works here [I know you aussies use a different system]. Good on ya and cheers mate! Have your laptop ready in case of trouble and the Mopar fans will flock to help you. Safe trip my friend!

Ok I woosed out and had it trucked (sorry) but at least it has made it to California but I missed out on a great road trip and now my good lady is saying 'Hey lets go to Vegas'. Anyway its on the boat and about to sail, so in a month I'll have it in my hands. Can't wait. Thanks guys for your advice though it won't go to waste.

Congrats. At least now its almost time to start playing around with it for you.
