Oh yeah, and here's some questions to ask your Media Blaster, or, points to know/understand.
1. What material do you use? (soft media is best on all parts of the car)
2. What air pressure do you use? (30-40 psi is where you want to be, if they can't do it at that pressure, they likely have a weak compressor; and will have lots of moisture)
3. Do they use a Rotisserie?
4. Do they paint (prime) over their work before giving you the car back? (bad sign; usually these guys paint over a half-*** job, hiding it from you, this is one big reason I don't offer painting/priming services -- I want the client to see it all stripped down bare and naked, they can prime/paint it)
5. Also, it's a balance between time and fixed pricing. If a Media Blaster is running his operation with a weak compressor, it will take him more time to do a part. If they are billing by the hour, and it's up around $150.00 per hour, it could get out of control. (I try to work as fast as I can on pieces I do, this way it keeps my compressor running less as that is a HUGE part of my operating expenses).
6. Some air compressors' specs you should sniff around on; should be at least 180cfm, preferably a Screw type compressor - this ensures the operator has a stout air supply to work from.
And, GOOD LUCK, keep the pics coming.
