I purchased a pair of the wheel opening quarter patch panels from Sherman and associates via herbs auto parts this weekend. They looked pretty good, thick steel and all but.... Tonight when I started test fitting one of the panels I found the the shape of the panel is way off. The body line right above the wheel opening is no where near as sharp as the rest of the quarter. Anyone seen this before or have any suggestions? I don't know of anyone else that makes these panels.

do you need the panel to go that high up maybe you could cut the panel down a bit below the body line?

I'm surprised there is sheet metal available for the 66/67 Bel.

Using only what you need rather than cutting out and welding in a big section will reduce the warpage factor. Hopefully you can work with what you have.

I have see these panels before, not die stamped. Just as the boys here said, use only what you need. You should keep the repair as small as possible regardless. Please post a picture of the panel.

here are pics of the quarter and the replacement. I need the body line. The new one is not angled correctly and the curve is not right either. How can I fix this?

I'd start by grinding out all of the filler on the original panel to see what you really need. Use as little as possible of the replacement panel. The panels for these cars suck and you'll need to do quite a bit of massaging to get it to look right especially if you use the whole thing. I am currently working on a '67 Satellite on which bot quarters were replaced. Since they both were done prior to me getting the car in my shop, my main concern is getting them both to look alike and be straight rather than matching exactly what the factory one looked like. Lots of block sanding...

Ya, like challengergary says, dig in to the old body work to see what you have. The body lines are so long and straight that it makes it a huge challenge to get them straight. post a pic once the filler has been removed...you really want to minimize the amount you have to weld on these panels!

How big of a hurry are you? AMD is to be making new panels for 66-67 belvederes and gtx's. They are about a year away from my understanding. If I were you, I'd concentrate on other area's of the car. Then hope the panels are ready by the time you get back to working on the quarters. Or try to find used ones, which are hard to find and expensive.

Progress on quarter

Here are a few pics of the progress of the quarter. More work than I anticipated but glad I pull it off for a look.
