Hi all,
I have spent my car years now numbering more than I care to count building Fords and a couple of Pontiacs but wanted to do something different. Since my uncle and brother both have Challengers I thought something from Chrysler would be fun; a bit scary for me since I don't know much about them, but fun. I decided to go B-body since we already have 3 E-bodies in the family and stumbled across this 69 GTX.
So far I have had new rear quarters put in, outer wheel well housings, trunk drop down panels, driver’s floorboard, and all other little areas of rust cut out and metal welded in. Yesterday I re-installed the windshield. (what a job) The frame rails and other under body parts are exceptionally solid and this is what sold me on the car. The interior, well, there isn’t much interior to speak of and I think this will be the biggest issue in the restoration.
I am also renovating my house so progress on the car is slow. I hope to be able to get some help from time to time from the forum since I am learning a new make of car with this project.
Photos are from the trip home from the body shop.
