I need to see what the fan clutch looks like for a 69 roadrunner and does it matter what rad I have ?
 
A little more info will likely get you an answer. People seldom take the time that i have to answer such questions that are sketchy in details. I wish people would think about this ahead of time as it takes a lot of time and research for an answer like i have given you below.

Is it a Hemi, 440-6, or 383 car?

What rear end did the car come from the factory with?

Are you trying to restore the car to the way it came from the factory?

What radiator does the car have? width? Number?

It is my understanding that the only factory built cars that would have a clutch fan were Hemis, 440-6s, and 383s with optional HD cooling. The HD cooling was either part of the A31 axle package or could be ordered optionally as the N51 Max Cooling option. Does your FT or BCS have these codes on it?

Does your car have a 22" or 26" radiator or Rad. opening?

The standard cooling system for a 1969 383 RR with 3.55 or higher top speed gears was a 22" rad. with a solid drive fan unit.

If you are just trying to upgrade your existing cooling system with a clutch fan then it will be a trial and error (read measure everthing before ordering parts) situation to make it work.

2863216 is the factory part number for the 18 1/2" dia. 7 blade fan.
2120510 is the factory part number for the 1.60" long fan spacer
2806070 is the factory part number for the 7.25" dia. torque drive clutch

The fan and clutch are specific to Hemi and 440-6 cars and sought after=EXPENSIVE unless your car is a valuable, numbers matching car that require these exact factory numbered parts, go to a Napa parts story and see if they will cross reference to something available for a lot less.
 
Also, here is a copy and paste from another post I made about flex fans. check the bolded area as you want the fan in the correct possition in the fan shroud if you are running one, which is one of the most important pieces of the system.

Don't try to re-invent the wheel. The auto manufacturers hired engines to build their cars and sub assemblies and the cooling system was one of them. All of them had test tracks in the Arizona desert to test them in extreme conditions.

The best thing you can do is keep things original. Over the years people remove/replace these things with no shrouds, flex fans, electric fans, and aftermarket radiators.

The factory type radiator with original thickness and fin count is the best system you can have. The fan shroud should be sealed so that all of the air behind the rad. is forced to be sucked THROUGH the rad. rather than around it. You are creating a vortex behind the rad. The placement of the fan is also important. It should be 1/2 in and 1/2 out of the rear edge opening of the shroud. Viscous clutch fans are good for engine power saving since they cut out at higher RPMs when the speed of the car helps with the air flow through the rad. but a standard fan is fine too.

Electric fans block the rad. simple by their presences weather they are front or rear mounted. People think that because they are mounted closely that they do a better job and think that a center mounted one is good. In order to duplicate the shrouded rear set engine fan that pulls air from the entire surface area of the rad. the electric fan(s) would have to be mounted over the entire surface area of the rad. and it is still a blocking problem.

Aftermarket rads. are very often built WRONG. Thinking that the larger thikness and higher fin count is better it is actually worse as in 10 pounds of crap in a 5 pound bag. It "crowds" the fin count and limits the heat dispersing characteristics it is suppose to be creating. It needs room to get rid of the heat.
 
I am having problem finding 1970 fan clutch 383cid non-thermal clutch. have received several units from flex-a lite and Hayden- but all units have too long a shaft. any suggestions?
 
The best fan clutch for any B-Body application is the Hayden 2765. It is also sold by Parts Master. Make sure you get the brass round spacer for the inside of the stem because we need it to fit the water pump stem correctly. It is as short as they get and the same length as the 2806070 Hemi fan clutch. Dave
 
fan clutch

From my research, my car came with a fan clutch. It has a 440 4b. and the car has a 26" rad and A/C. I purchased one that looks very close like the one from the factory from a friend of mine who owns a NAPA auto parts store.
 
Good info...I have a related question...I have a 70 Super Bee 383 car, standard cooling 22" rad; I put in a Mopar fan & clutch package; the fan touches the shroud; any ideas on the part number to accomodate the fan/clutch?
 
Did anyone read my message? It works for all applications where you have a big block rad in any B or E body car with either a 22 or 26 inch radiator. The only stock units that work are the Hemi/6 pack unit I described above (070) or the 440 w/air unit which part number ends in 456, but both used units will be worn out now some 40 years later. Get the Hayden. Dave
