Traction bar help

I guess I'll have to take them off soon. Great... wasted time polishing them up earlier LOL
Btw when i bought the car 3 weeks ago they came on it.

You can always sell them to a Ford or Chevy owner:grin:

If you look at the technical part of how it works, it probably is not doing you any good.
The function of a traction bar is to use the counter revolution motion of the axle to "slap" the bars snubber against the spring and transfer that energy to push the axle down and help plant the tires. The problem with most slapper bars is that they hit the leaf behind the spring eye and they can and will eventually bend the spring at that point.
Mopar leafs have a shorter front segment length than the rear. By design, the front of a Mopar spring acts as more of a link, which is why the pinion snubber is a big part of gaining traction in a Mopar. Next time you're at the dragstip, look at how the street cars launch. The Dodge Dart will raise up in the rear, while the Chevy Nova will squat....

They certainly don't go forward enough to the spring eye for a B body. They would be closer to working on a A body, because they have a shorter front spring segment. We tried running a pair 30 years ago on a 11 sec car set up the way yours are. The car literally rejected them. It ripped them off...broke the u bolts off. It was a matter of time before we had a broken drive shaft from a messed up pinion angle.The whole car at the line would lift to where it looked like a 4 wheel drive truck. I do get that slapper bars are nostalgic. But, not a good plan on a real performance car.

Watch the movie bullet. The mustang has wheel hop that would get a rabbit excited. But no wheel hop on the charger. LOL!
 
My a-body came with traction bars when I got it, pretty much a day 2 car with some ad ons.

They did not bolt to the springs, they were the shock mount/leaf plates.
I imagine they did nothing to help with traction, and probably did no harm to the springs.

I took them off, but would like to put them back on just for the look, and return the rear suspension to the day 2 colors.
Not sure of what color the traction bars were originally, as it was all sprayed black at some point, but early on the rearend and springs were painted white.
