i am contemplating putting to rest my 318 poly out of my 66 belvedere and either putting a 383 or 440 in its place or going with a 5.7 hemi, overdrive trans, computer, etc....

i know a few have done the new hemi swap but i searched on here and couldn't come up with anything...just want to kinda feel around and see what im up against, how dificult of a swap, etc...before i make a decision and start my winter project early :)

any threads to look at or websites would help greatly.

Go to forabodiesonly and check out their "new hemi swaps" section.

I have gone back and forth with the same idea. I need to focus on other areas first though before I spend to much attention and money on the motor.

same here, im getting all my wiring and interior done and in check before starting anything under the hood really...i drove my car on the power tour this week over a couple hundred miles and the ol 318 did fine...as long as i stuck to back roads and around 55mph. i just love getting the ol car out with my wife and two babies in the back and cruising, driving to shows and out to town and stuff....hate to lose the "driveability" by putting in a 383 or 440(which my dad has in his garage whenever i need them) because its hard to just put a "stock" big block in...haha. the newer hemi would give me reliability, nice factory HP, and fuel mileage....im just torn, i love to drag race and enjoy all the nostalgia races, good guys, hot rod reunions, etc....decisions decisions.

Read my thread, it might answer some of your questions.

have one in a 69 satellite conv. used a 727 runs great. also in process of a 6.1 in a 69 amx got my mounts & trans plate& flex plate from street & performance used harness & pcm from durango i took it out of also re-bent fuel lines off durango put fuel pump in tank & used corvette fuel filter with built in regulator. not a weekend project . also wired the drive by wire gas pedal from durango & since it was an original a/c car used durango a/c compressor. dont know if that helps any questions will try to answer.
