whats your guys temp usually run. hell mine use to run 160 degrees. im using a 160 degree thermostat right now. now it seems to go to 190 200 degrees. i like my motor to run cool. what does your guys motor run at

180 is good, 200 won't hurt anything. I do agree I like my car to run cooler as in the 180 range.

Remember, the temp T-stat you are running only regulates the temp. that the T-stat OPENS, it is NOT going to hold the temp at that number. As the ambiant temp rises your engine temp IS going to rise as it will when you are idling or around town at low RPMs because you are getting minimal air flw across the rad.

I stay around 160 to 180 depending on outside temp. It's really been humid lately in Florida but I haven't gone over 180.

cooler = more power. Hotter = cleaner. My 318 in the Ram has been rock-steady at 200 for 15 years. Just started going up to 225-30. I noticed that the upper fins were very hot, but I could hold my finger to the bottom fins. Thinking clogged radiator. Something for you to check?

160 therm, I run from 160 when cruising to a tops of just under 200 when stuck in traffic. Where did you say your timing is at, inicial and total timing. What type of advance, mech or vacuum.

175-180 normal driving, stuck in "L.A" traffic, on the 405 freeway,200 degrees,
L.A. traffic meaning it takes you an hour of more to go 10 miles!

My temp usually runs about 98.6 :rolling::rolling:

(I'm really surprised no one said that already)

I agree, what 696pack is saying is....the thermostat will remain open constantly....a similar effect to not running one at all,not a good thing. Maybe you could try a 170 and see if that helps.
