I took these photos of a Hemi powered air raid siren from the 50's at the "Spring Fling Show" in Van Nuys Ca, April 2010,

I thought it was kinda cool.

I remember when they used to test the sirens when I was a kid in the 60's,they were kinda scary, it was kinda like, is this a test or the REAL thing?

I remember seeing something about these years ago here in Australia. One of them had been found on top of an old building so they fired it up for a test 'drive', extremely loud!!!!

We have nothing like it here in Australia, I think if there's a nuclear attack, they tell everyone to gather down the pub and watch it on the TV, while having a few beers.
