I have pretty much the same setup as satarunner and I love it. 2" hookers, 3" pipes with x pipe, flowmaster original 40's and turn downs before the rear end. Sounds really aggresive and scares old ladies! Love it. However no two cars are alike, my dad liked my set up and copied it, less the x pipe and it sounded like garbage. His car sounds much better now with some cheapy turbo's on it

TTI's. Dynomax. QTP's in between.

I have Dynomax Superturbos on my 68 Coronet and like them. But I have magnaflos on my 94 jeep, and they sound great.

I have had Edelbrock mufflers, and they resonated badly at cruising speed.

I've run pretty much everything from Smittys to Borlas and even ran the Hemi system on one car. Have also have run straight pipes on many cars. The Smittys were on a 65 Mustang 289 and you could make them pretty loud depending on where they were placed but that's the same with any muffler. The closer you are to the engine, the louder they are. Pipe size and muffler placement will also make a difference in drone too. As for Flowmasters...I won't use them anymore. Got tired of the sound because so many use them plus they didn't last long on my cars and they are too expensive for not lasting very long. As for straight pipe systems.... they can be as nasty as you want but they can be made to be fairly quiet too. Just gotta know how. I would vote 'other' but it's not there.

running stock HP manifolds on my 69 RR 338, cross over tube & a pair of flowmasters. I dig it.

Another vote for the 2 1/2" TTI system with Dynomax super turbos. Exactly the sound and volume I was looking for.

Gary.

I was contemplating Hooker Aero Chambers, but noticed they haven't rated much of a mention......any particular reason for avoiding them?...just asking.

DON'T get Accurate exhaust performance mufflers. They're quiet inside the car with no droning but way too loud outside. Their regular Hemi style may be okay. The advantage is their design looks stock with the pinched end cans for that factory look. The rest of their exhaust system looks right and bolted up perfectly. You'll need to know the casting number of your exhaust manifolds when ordering as they build them on a jig with each manifold. Make sure you have a good trans mount so everything lines up right. Just with I'd have gotten the regular Hemi style mufflers.

Thrush super turbo - made by walker excatly the same as a dynomax and $20 less.

Has anyone used the Flowmaster Super 44 series mufflers??? Flowmaster claims it's the most aggressive muffler they've ever made.

hooker maximum flows, or aero chambers. love the sound of them on about anything they dont resonate like flowmasters.

I have Flowmaster Delta 50s on mine and they sound great but so much depends on the motor and the rest of the exhaust system that its hard to say which muffler may sound best.

You can do a search on them and find vids. From what I see on the net, they are pretty quiet but I don't know how they perform.

Ok, I bit the bullet and got a pair of 44 series flowmasters to go on the 64 when it goes back together???.......I figure it'll either sound ok or sound like a farming implement gone wrong.

You wanna know what I wish?

I wish that SOMEONE with the time and ability, would make a high quality demo featuring the actual sound of EACH of these muffler systems, on the SAME car, using the SAME pipes and tips, so that we could ALL make a sound and educated decision on what we'd like to hear from our Mopars.

Now THAT would be constructive, and I'd PAY to see/hear or receive a copy of a well made demo DVD.

Let's face it......unless we have personally and painstakingly compared the different sounds on much the same cars and engines with the same pipe setups, we really don't KNOW......do we?? I for one would REALLY like to know.:th_krazy::banana:

This is about the best side by side comparison of (Dynomax) mufflers I've seen, though they are on a Brand X ...

Something else.....

I am getting ready to replace the exhaust system on my 67 GTX. I do not want a loud muffler but i want something louder than stock that will flow better. What are you all using, Flowmaster, Magnaflow or something else ? Thanks

I discovered Borla mufflers and exhaust componants back in the 90's.... The only muffler i'll use...!! Great flow... will make power on a dyno. and OHHhhhhhhhhhh...what a sound.... Just a little pricey though, worth every penny.

What about Magnaflow mufflers?

I prefer the magnaflow.............

Im a big fan of flowmaster. You can get different series for how loud you want. I have an 02 dodge ram with a 4.7 and it has a flowmaster series 10 race muffler and it sounds AWESOME!! My 67 gtx Clone has super 40 series. And guys the Turbos your all reffering to are VERY VERY VERY restricted! We had them on our 67 charger,78 z28 and 72 nova and they all blew out! noticed once we went to the flowmaster the engine started to run lean because the engine burning the fuel hotter with the more air that was flowing so we had to step p the jetting. SO MY OPINION IS TURBO BAD!!! FLOWMASTER GOOD! FLOWMASTER MAKES IT MOFASTER!! LOL!

i agree. i have flowmasters on my 65 dodge coronet and they sound great. i have dynomax on my 65 plymouth belvedere and they are ok . the flowmasters are my favorite with a nice throaty sound.
