I was woundering what type of paint to use on a restoration for say a hemi cuda-rt charger etc. The origional type enamel or acryl/enamel or base coat clear coat. This will not be a driven car just a show car. But is an origional numbers matching car.

That would depend on if you want it to look like original paint, or a mirror finish show car

PPG makes a very very durable high gloss single stage paint. It's call Dell Fleet. This is made to hold up on fleet type vehicles that are out in the sun all day every day of the year! It's a little costly, but holds forever! This would give you a little bit of the best of both worlds as far as a good shine and very durable!

Just my two cents,
Jim

Ok I guess I was not clear on what I was looking for. Lets say that I have a superbird numbers matching car a car that will never be driven just restored to be sold for top dollar. What paint would a top paying buyer be wanting? Would they want the origional syntho enamel paint or would a base coat clear coat be ok. I am not adversed to using lacquer however it's a lot of work and was not origional and a base coat clear coat will look better than any lacquer with less work.

PPG Delstar acrylic enamel.

As jaak said, original would be single stage acrylic enamel, never lacquer. BC/CC is the glamour finish that can be too much or have the "over restored" look.
