ok...im floored by the price of radiators either new or recored....my gosh....i had quoted three different places and it was $450-$500 to recore mine...:icon_hang:

66 belvedere with AC, automatic trans...inlet and outlet are on the driver side...blah blah blah...

is there a good place to buy these reconditioned? aluminum replacements??? ive looked and really only thing ive come up with is ebay specials aluminum that "sorta" fit....

you can get the summit aluminum ones. i think a 25.75" cross flow fits our belvy's perfectly, i think maybe relocate the battery tray backwards a few inches to fit the side tank.

Did you tell them it was for an old car? I bet if you told them it was for a ford taurus it would be 50 bucks ha-ha j/k.

If you're willing to ship it, I'll send you the name and number of the guy who has done mine for the last 30+ years

A while back, I found a radiator (2949053) for my Bee on ebay. Since I had already bought a new one (22", 3 row, 13 fins/inch, with a fan shroud bracket), I couldn't justify another purchase to the boss. It sold for $120. About 6 weeks later, the guy who bought it decided he didn't need it, so he put it back up on ebay. That time it sold for about $600.

Yeah, those e-bay specials that "sorta" fit will also "sorta" keep the engine cool. I'll swear by the factory rad's... just had mine done, for $450 it keeps my "warm" 440 cool.

i have an original from a 66 net in good condition. Went big aluminum cause of the big inch stroker. pm if interested

radiator

I purchased a 4 core 26 " Champion aluminum radiator on e-bay for my 67 GTX. It fit perfectly, but you have to find another shroud for it, the stock one does not fit. I drivin it when it has been over 100 degrees this summer and it worked great. For the price ,around $300.00, it was well worth it to me.

i talked to a guy at a local drag strip over the weekend, Mopar night! his 66 charger had a factory radiator 3 core in it, with a built 440, maybe 400-450hp and he didn't have a shroud at all...and he said he never has any issues heating...my 66 belvedere has a 318 poly in it with air, but has a fan shroud...do i need a shroud or no???? when do you need one and when not???

$400 plus for a local 4 core recore. It was a 3 core in the 26" factory. That was cash with a 10% Coupon. So far so good. Got a shroud from megaparts for $95.

The 3 core did a pretty good job even at high altitude and extended idling. I was just looking for an edge. Ma Mopar knew what she was doing. No Aluminum for me and I'll keep the shroud.

PS: Don't pop the clutch in reverse.

A shroud helps to ensure that all the air the fan is pulling goes through the radiator. Running the A/C at low speeds on a hot day will require a lot of air passes through the condenser and radiator. If the engine doesn't overheat without a shroud then things are working. Did you check the core while the car was warmed up for cool spots? Sometimes you can get an idea of how the heat is distributed by running your hand over the core. Have you considered rodding out your existing one? Basically the rad shop will remove both tanks and run a piece of flat bar through the tubes to push out all the crud. Then solder it back up and you're good to go. This procedure should not be to hard on the wallet - maybe $150.00??

i got lucky and was at a swap meet here local, was cruising by and looked down and seen a factory exact replacement for my radiator....same part number and everything, except it came out of a 66 coronet...air car though so it was three core, etc...anways, $40 later and im up and running and no issues at all....
