I've got a 67 R/t with a 440/375 hp motor. It's a 4spd with a Carter carb. Here's the issue. I have no idea what model number this carb is. There is no tag attatched. It runs down the road fine but stalls out and belches when I nail it. I am about ready to pull it and go to a non-stock carb. Anyone know how to determine the model # and where I can find factory specs for this carb? :iamwithstupid:

You should have AFB 4236S carter. Check the lower edge should have # stamped ...PM me I'll zip you a copy of How to Overhaul and Tune your Carter AFB or Edelbrock EPS Four Barrel Carburetor

Thanks for the links pops... I forget right off hand what model number i have but i do know its on the bottom left mounting hole, mine needs rebuilt and tuned... Its a 625 if im thinking right.. Carter is a great carb!

I have rebuilt a few in the passed... Not to difficult... I have a friend, he's been in the business for 30 years rebuilding carbs in the Mount Vernon, NY... Great work there....He has tons of cores etc.....

Wrong carb!

Well I found out the problem with my carb! Not only do i have the wrong carb on my car, I have the wrong linkage set up also. You were absolutely correct that i should have carter model afb 4326S in my 67 R/T 440/375 hp 4spd. I find that I actualy have model afb 3860S that is made for a 65 413 wedge mtr. I found a 1967 Coronet repair manual and learned alot. Whoever replaced the carb also removed/replace the linkage system and installed a simple throttle cable and return spring. Now if I'm lucky enough to find the correct carb its of little use to me unless I can find the linkage system also. Does anyone know if the 66-67 charger had the same accelerator linkage system? Since I have a 4spd I'm sure thats another issue. thanks.

Problem solved!

Solved the issue of trying to find mixed matched parts so an incorrect carb would work on my car. I was fortunate enough to locate and purchase the exact stock carter afb 4326S carb needed for my 67 coronet r/t. Isn't this hobby fun?
Thanks to all for the help and advice!!!!!!!!!!:headbang:

Interesting, I'm searching for a carb for my 440, automatic, going into a 1966 Satellite. I would like something that retains the stock throttle cable positioning, kickdown linkage etc. I have a couple different variations of the linkages. I believe they came with Carter AFBs or AVSs. Then again I loved the Thermoquad that my old 340 Duster had. Anyone have any thoughts?
