Hood Pins

Thanks for your reply Chris. I found those and wasn't sure because of the price.

My hood pins have ugly worn lanyards, so I poked around on ebay. I thought the real ones were more expensive.

looks like the ones on my 70 RR...21 is a good price...im thinkin bout replacing mine...all scratched up from sliding the pins in!

mine are riveted in tho....those look like the escutcheons on those use small screws

I didn't buy mine at Year One but mine are the same as these.. I didn't pay this much for what appears to be the same as i bought for 20 bucks est..

If it's just lanyards you need, you may check your local hardware outlet store (Lowes, Home Depot, True Value, etc.). They often sell the coated cable by the foot and stainless or aluminumn swedge ends individually. You may be able to replace the cables for a couple bucks...cutting and assmebling them yourself.

As for the base plates...
They are stainless steel and you may be able to clean them up while still installed on the car....

- Mask off the hood around them
- Go through the various grits of sand paper (320, 600, 1,000, 2,000?)
- Get a 4" buffing wheel and install it in your drill
- Use some White ruche on the wheel(Lowes carries it in their tool Dept next to the buffing wheels), and you should be able to bring them back.

Good luck to you both!

I should have mentioned it but the pin set i got, The lanyards didn't have a coating of plastic on them.. And i didn't use them. Without the plastic, you will get scratches in the paint!

I got a set from Year One, and they actually come from Dales Cuda shop, look identical to the photo of the ones on flea bay. Thats a good price, i paid about 35 bucks for mine. The are 37 from Dales, and now 48 bucks from year one, part number A010023S, are the ones with 23" cables.

Thanks for all the great replies. I asked the seller about the hood pins he/she is selling. I think I'll order a set based on the reply received.

23" from center to center of the eyelets

Lanyards are plastic coated

I wasn't even thinking of getting new pins or bezels, but...these look great and not expensive. They look just like my stockers for 1970. I think I'll get them. Thanks for bringing this to your attention!

I got a set of them from that seller, looks nice and fast shipping, the only thing a could say is they have a coarse thread, my old ones had a fine thread if that matters to you.

Biggest thing thats different with the readlly available pin kits is that the pin pads that go on the hood look nothing like the thick original ones. Everything else is pritty much on par

Got the same kit from same seller for my 67 gtx...Cheaper than year one and probably same kit..
