Iv been thinking of something for a while and would like to get some others opinions. Building a 60s-70s Mopar with a Nascar look a like theme. But here is the deal Im wondering about. Actually selling sponsorship to local businesses. They could have their advertisements on the car in exchange for money or parts to help with the project. The car would grab everyones attention as it is driven around the area and advertise for the businesses. Sell the sponsorship/ads in 1 year deals so the car could change its appearance from time to time depending on who wanted certain areas of the car. Plus it could help finance something Iv always wanted to build. Is this a stupid idea or does it have a chance?

You may have a "good idea" !
Got to get the sponsors "pro-active".
Just think if you and I thought about selling bottled water 30 years ago, people would laugh at us. I went to a FORD dealership 2005, told him I wanted to do a 68' style Cobra-Jet and perhaps get some $$ help from him but it was a "no-go"
Good luck!

Not a stupid idea at all...Heres an easy one ...Find yourself a 66 belvedere or sate;lliet...Do a 66 belvedere receration of richard perttys car...it,s the one i,d do...By the way I have a 67 gtx painted petty blue with his signature on nthe glove box door...

Hey Ski you are rite. Have you ever figured the price of bottled water by the gallon? Here where I live a 16oz bottle of water cost $1.50. How many would it take to make a gallon? Then compare it to the price of gas per gallon.

I have thought about something like that before but just on my street truck to drum up some $$ and to pay for the maintenance etc...there is a site out there that advertises sponsors but if I remember right there is some crappy think you have to sign up for or pay for.

My idea was to do what some others did with success and sell ad space on your car via ebay, get people who are willing to pay for the add decal and you for running around with it on and you can have them bid for it, some have made several thousands.

That does sound like it could work.. If you could get enough involved to start it, id bet sending out pictures of it to different places to show them what they could have you do for them... Even used car dealers put there sticker on cars they sell, tire company's, new car dealers.. Wouldn't hurt if you could get the car you want to build and have it photo-shopped with mock advertisements to take to some places and show them what you have planned.. Tell them how many people attend the car meets and events you go to that would be seeing it.. You don't have anything to loose trying it.
