So I am at work today on my new job and the owner walks over and asks,"Do you like Baseball?" and I said sure...he said great and proceded to tell me that on Thursday of this week he reserved an air conditioned box at the ball field in Rochester for a Redwings game. He said its going to be really hot in here so I thought I would spring for lunch at the ball field during the game in an A/C box. Go for a few hours, have lunch and some ice cream and cool off, I will keep all of you on the clock. Quick, someone pinch me......

Last week he hired a guy with one of those hot dog stands to set up in the parking lot at work. Hotdogs, Hamburgers, Mac salad, and drinks..all on him.

Wow! sounds like you hit a "Home Run" when you lucked into this job. Maybe it was worth the time off between jobs to land one for an employer who really appreciates his employees. Too bad more companies don't value staff as assets, not just pawns. Congrats again on your good fortune.....

You can tell your owner that I think that he is a very smart man. He understands that if you treat your employees right and throw them a favor once in a while that they will bust their asses for you when you really need them. This concept seems to be lost on the management of most large companies and corporations.

Roger that

Roger that, brother. That's why I work for myself. But I still gripe about my boss.....

In this case, I'd be wary of the boss showing up one day with three ugly daughters.

ill 2nd that....take care of your employees...and they will take care of you...!:headbang:

Are you sure you aren't hallucinating? Either that or the other shoe is gonna drop!! Seems too good to be true but I'm glad you have a great work environment!!! Wow!

It sounds like a great place to work & a great owner too...

Retired from a large company that was decent to us in that respect but the 1st lines (1st line bosses) were mostly all ********. Granted, they were usually just keeping the crap rolling downhill. I had planned on only staying for a few years when I hired on but after the economy got bad (in the early 80's) and then one thing after another, I ended up putting in 26 years! If you have a good job and they treat you like a human and you like doing what you do, hang onto it!

Congrats your a lucky person, once long ago the place i work at treated us like family [steak bbqs, raises, bounises, cost of living increases] then new management came in ran off most of the longtime employees and began to use the new school management to run the place, then the economy took a dump, they beleve that we should look up to them because they are why we have jobs. I personally hate each and every one of them and their way of thinking,in my opinion the most important part of a company is it's customer base, then the employees that make the product to sell with out those two things all the other things in between don't work. We had a pay cut 4 years ago i lost 20% of my hourly pay [was 16.94 hr.] got back 6%[ now 13.92] i had no debt only regular monthly bills,in the past 2 1/2 years they have given back 6% of what they took [at my new pay rate] i'm now in debt [not horrible but in debt just the same]. I would go some where else but at 53 y.o. starting over don't intrest me, i got 8 more years till retirement, it just sucks after 15 years [in my 16th] i'm making 3 dollars more than when i started and i would have to work 50+ hours to equil what i made in 40 at my old rate if i was allowed overtime [i'm not]. The employees have made it known they are tired and want more money so tomorrow they are having lunch brought in for all of us and i'm not sure about raises or gift cards as of yet. Sorry for the rant i'm just sick and tired of hearing how good the company is doing and we ain't getting nuthing back to speak of, sorry bastards i can't stand em.

It keeps getting better!!

He (the owner) came around twice today with ice cold Gator Aid and then around 2 o'clock they came around with ice cream bars. The pay is great, full benefits, M/F work schedule and they are providing me with courses in Metallurgy before I take over second shift as the Process Supervisor. Where was this job 20 years ago???

Congrats Red, He sounds like one great guy to work for..
