Hello to everyone, I recently bought a 1968 plymouth belvedere 4 door and it came with a rebuilt slant 6.

I've been checking craigslist lately and found a 440 for sale... I want to make my car a 440 and have been searching for all the components i will need to do the swap..

I need an outline of what parts I will need? and what parts that I can use that are already on the car?

Can someone help me out? thanks..

V8 K member,26 inch radiator,440 motor mounts,V8 transmission cross member,727 big block transmission,8 3/4 rear end,radiator hoses,transmission lines,driveshaft,exhaust.

Yep, need the whole K-frame including sway bar and steering linkage in additional stuff.

A big swap.

U can keep ur k member if u call shumacher he has motor mounts to put a 440 in the 6 cyl k member, u need the trans. The mount is easily modified to fit the big block. Change ur rearend and cut the driveshaft to fit, get the 727 yoke as the 6 cylinder has a 904 most likely but some as far as i know had 727 behind the 6 cyl, i seen a couple of these in pick up trucks. Good luck

I once converted a slant 6 Duster auto to a 440 auto. Used the elephant ears motor mounts that bolt between the water pump and block. The 727 fit right in, used the original shift linkage, trans mount, and just plugged the 440 elect ign dist into the stock wiring. Had to get a drive shaft shortened, and used an 8.75 rear end. Also a bigger radiator. Not that difficult, just time consuming. Good luck.

This is the right way to do it...

Elephant ears on everything ALWAYS. . . .

I am looking for a 68 belvedere or satellite parts car, prefer 4 door, doesn't have to run, I am restoring a 68 4 door Belvedere Police Package car.

I'm doing the same swap in a 65 plymouth. This forum has been so helpful. I contact Shumaker and they said they don't have items for the 440 swap without swapping the kmember for a v8 kmember. Do those elephant ears motor plates take care of that problem or are they just a good idea in conjunction with the kmember swap?

Thank you all!

I had a 65 Plymouth Belvedere that worked well with the Elephant Ears motor mounts. Also the 74 Duster that had a 6 cyl engine, I converted with out changing the K member. Had to cut the 6 cyl motor mounts off, though.
