I have a question here that I will get to in a minute.

The top plates are different from different years. Not only the difference between auto and 4 speed but from year to year.
To the best of my knowledge/memory t goes like this:
The 1966/67 in the Charger uses a flat brushed aluminum but the 66-68 uses the ribbed chrome on all other B bodies. then in 69 on the Chargers with the SE package they went to a smooth top with woodgrain and then continued this in 1970.
They don't seem to make th repo 66/67 Charger flat brushed aluminum plates so I am wondering if anyone knows of availability of the aluminum trim in sheet material with the correct finish? I see people advertising top plats for the old Chargers but usually the brushed aluminum is all dented up.

Call Mike Ross. He knows an engineer who makes the aluminum pieces you are looking for. I've met the guy a few years ago at Carlilse and to my knowledge, he was very nice and his work was great also. At the time I didn't have any need for the stuff so I ddin't get an info. Coincidently, I overheard someone asking for those parts at the tent this Carlilse and Mike Ross spouted his name without a flinch.

Hope it helps.

keep eyeballing ebag and craigslist I would imagine you never know plus swap meets are by far the best way to find the hard parts since most people are hoarders lmao!

There was a thread pertaining to this over at `66 & `67 Charger forum and I know you've been over there.

Yes, I am registered there but have not been able to log in for several weeks. I have tried everything possible including trying to contact the site administrator myself and through another memeber. Many have had problems with log in there to the point that a lot of good members have left the site. It is a shame since it is a model specific site.

To answer your question I'd say just about any sheet metal shop can make those. Then just tune them up with red scotchbrite before you put them on. My 66 has the brushed aluminum top and I can take a closer look to see what the finish is. Or, remove your old ones and carefully knock the dimples out from the back side then re grain them.

I'm sorry to hear that, there are some good guys on that forum.

There are log on issues for a lot of people. The founder (admin) is looking for help as he is taking another job that is going to have him busy.

I will pm you Doug's email.
