That's beautiful.

stock elect work just as good as any of them if its set up with the proper curve.

I did the HEI conversion. Picked up 2 1/2 MPG, faster starts, Idles better, drives better... Easy to do. Bought a module from Advance, and the conversion bracket from a member here. Highly suggest.

How about a picture of your set up? I would like to see how it's done.

A question if you don't mind. How does the large alternator pulley work at low speeds or idle? Does it charge well?

Your lighting (headlights etc..) could be dim at idle.

doens't really affect the dart much, but it idle's at about 1200rpm and doesn't usually spend much time there. i'd shy away from it on a street only car. i was having alot of trouble with fan belts when the car had a 4 speed. that helped.

Yes, I knew that was the main reason for the large pulley...to help keep the belt on. Thanks. I didn't know if maybe you had solved the low RPM voltage malady or not....I guess at 1200 RPM it don't matter much. lol

I have a Sb that i use Factory Electronic Dist on it, I have an accel coil and it has a roller cam and 4 barrel, it seems to do the job well enough.. I would think that a factory electronic dist would work just as well on a 360. I have another 318 that i intend on putting the same system on it for my car while this one gos in for some upgrades and i think it will do fine, its just a stock engine with EFI im putting a LD340 intake on so stock more/less..

68 HEMI GTS Thats a beautiful car, nice setup!

The other dist I have is a Pro Comp 8000 But I am not sure.

If you have an elec ign mopar distributor you can pull the module out of a gm hei, run the the wires to the p and n side of the module and ground it and you have yourself an hei

?

I think the main reason people are shying away from the MP stuff is quality control. 30 years ago, it was top notch. Over time everything has been outsourced (not always a bad thing) and cheaper materials are being used so there are more failures. I think in comparison the GM HEI system is fewer pieces and provides just as good if not better spark.

All that said, I've been a big fan of the Mopar system for a long time. When working properly, it's hard to beat. With the blue, orange, chrome and gold boxes, there's an ignition system for pretty much whatever you want to do. But you can only carry SO many spare parts along for the ride. lol

Judging by the poll no one is shying away from MoPar Performance.

ALTHOUGH I voted Other, just went with that thinking on the firecore dist. BUT not the RTR, really the stock replacement since SEEMS to be better precission built.

The stock dist system got a fail design and build and is the BIG TOLERANCES of the vacuum advance plate working over two diff circunferences, the one of the advancing plate itself and the distribuitor itself.

This desing makes the advancing plate circunference getting closer to the reluctor circunference when advancing. That's hard to save, but just experimenting with the pickup position ( bending here and there )

The tolerances due the advancing plate floating system, retained by a spring, plus the pivot into the hole of the plate ( not an exact size ), can make the pick up coil BITE the reluctor due the free play all around

So unless you can get it into the stock dist parts and take care of every tolerance around, I think the Firecore dist could be a better option IF IS FOR REAL this dist is better machined, what is has being told to me.

Beside this, the shaft spins into a bearing system ( dunno if ball or needle ), diff from the stock which is a brass bushing. This is not a big deal on a SB since the dist is vertical, but critical into a BB due the dist angle, getting worn one side of the bushing.

I hope this has being understood. My english sometimes is not easy to understand.

I too like the factory "design" stuff. I ran a M.P. setup on a 67 cuda with a 318 and the only problem I every had was that the Orange box went out on it. The great part was that it only required me to remove and replace the box in order to get it back up again. I am currently running a Summit Racing setup, basically the same thing as the M.P. setup, on my 71 roadrunner with a 440. To this date, I have never had any issues. Yes, it does require more wiring than other systems but it really isn't very difficult and once done, your golden.$(KGrHqRHJBYE9BSM9N,GBPQ)Ud5uEw~~60_3.jpg
