That includes tires and carbs! Yep, no more trailering it to shows because of expired out of state plates. We are legal and insured and I'm going to drive the wheels off it! I was hoping for a quick sale but most people looked at me like I was crazy for asking $65K for a super nice REAL hemi 4 spd car in a good color combo. So I decided to at least enjoy the car while I have it. I've taken it grocery shopping and other errands while I sort out the carbs and timing. Not the best pic but here it is at the annual Danville hot summer nights car show. This was last Thurs and it was the only hemi car there, and what's even better is I got invited to put it on display for my Haggerty agent. And he wants it back next month. My buddy and I have been spending a lot of time getting it dialed in for the next owner but it looks like until someone talks us out of it we'll be reaping the benefits of all that work. I'm sure we'll get over the trauma!

good for you meeps and you are right it does feel good.:headbang: couple of weeks ago i went to a cruise in my home town and was the only hemi---styling

Hey Meeps, congrats! Hopefully it drives as good as it looks!

I had a bad driveline vibration when I took it on the freeway for the first time so I went back to figure out what was up and found the slip yoke to have quite a bit of up and down play. I pulled the shaft and the slip yoke measured about .015" smaller than another one I had so I swapped them. I also added a 1/4" shim under the tailshaft mount for good measure. The up and down play with the new yoke is greatly reduced but the shaft can also stand to be a bit longer, maybe 1/2" - 3/4". Inserting the yoke that much more seemed to reduce the up and down play even more. The vibration is mostly gone but I still get a little when not under accel or decel. At least I can drive it now without thinking the drive shaft is going to leave the car. It was that bad. Otherwise it drives straight and smooth.

Beautiful car! I have a friend in Warner Robins with an original 66 Hemi Charger. He bought it in 1970. He's the second owner. Words of wisdom. Do NOT probe the dash light harness with a test light. lol

Hey Meep,
I went out to the garage and double checked my D/S tonight, and it should be 53" long "U center to U center" to fit my combo correctly....
I wonder if yours would be the same???
Here's a link to a racing "dirt track" company advertising a 3" dia. 53" long shaft.

And right off the rack too. Interesting. I went back and looked at the message and mine was 51.5" C-C. I don't think I have room for another 1.5" of drive shaft. .5 - .75" maybe. I was going to use the shaft out of my hemi Belvedere but it was slightly shorter than what is in the Charger so I just stole the yoke. All the B body shafts I have seem to vary about a half inch.

Really good to see you enjoying the Charger Meeps, It certainly is a beautiful car and bet its a fun driver! Enjoy....

Mine measured 51" on the nose... Hmm, how is it that there were so many different lengths?
Hope you get things all worked out! Great lookin car too!!!

Oh,,, BTW,
I just called a shop yesterday, and the guy I spoke to said that they can't even buy tubing with the taper ends, only straight tubing, so the driveshaft ends are pretty much worthless unless I were wanting to shorten the shaft.....
