WTH!!!Japan!!!

I don't think we have to worry about the Japanese for that. Industries being forced out of this country due to regulation and taxation, along with a constant influx of illegal immigrants filling jobs is what will kill the job market. Or already has.

Anyhoo.....lets try to keep this about the parts. We don't want this endin up in the political section, I don't think. lol

I agree, looking at it, People need to get back to the basics and take pride in their jobs. Do extra work and do right when noone is looking. People just got lazy. I still try to buy American and will always try to. The foreign stuff is cheaper to make and sell and thats why people go for it.

My dodge ram was made in Saltillo, Mexico. The replacement block was made in the USA as I am told. The heads should not crack at 98,000 miles. My step dad had a Camry and the tranny finally went at 138,000 miles. After that, it ran fine and had no more problems. My moms '11 charger, on the other hand, was messed up from factory, The push button door unlock didn't work, the bumper wasn't straight, piece flies off when you open the sun roof, etc. Everyones out for money and not quality.

Anyways, I will stop there before it gets political.

X2 ,i love my Dodge Nitro ,made in Toledo Ohio,i will pay more to purchase Made in Canada or USA .Thats what i like to do

The biggest problem I have with junk made in China, besides most of it being junk, is that a lot of products over there are made by damn near slave labor and also forced child labor. China’s child labor is a huge problem, and there is clear evidence that child labor is increasing in China. Although there is no official figure on the number of children working in China, it is estimated by many that of the 10 million children out of school, over 5 million are working in factories. There are some who even consider this a conservative estimate. It was reported in Sichuan, China’s most populated province, that 85% of children who drop out of school are working elsewhere. Even in some less populated rural provinces, over 20% of the work force is made up of children. Also, in the last few years, the rate of children kidnapped has increased rapidly. It is believed that the children kidnapped are sold off to factories to work. For example, in 1994, about 48 Chinese brick-shop-workers kidnapped over 100 children. It is known that fourty of those children were forced to work 10 hours a day, but with no wage whatsoever. And the more you trade with China, the more our dollars (and others) support that.

So, what then do you call a Toyota factory in Kentucky that is on American soil employing American workers? Or a Toyota truck plant in Texas on American soil employing Ameican workers? Or a Kia plant in Georgia employing a bunch of Georgia rednecks? Even the VIN of Toyotas built here are different than the Japanese made cars. We have two Fords. But I would own a Toyota. I like Ford because they took no bailout stimulus. They also make a quality product. Don't get me wrong. I am all for America. I wish outsourcing would stop for a while. In fact, I think a little isolationism wouldn't hurt for a while. But calling somebody a scab for driving a car that was more than likely assembled here on American soil by American workers to me is a stretch.

guys, we have the highest corporate tax rate on EARTH. our 'brilliant' leaders still think it's post WWII, when we were the only great industrial nation who avoided having their industrial infrastructure bombed straight to hell. there was a 30 - 40 year period when if you wanted to build something, it had to be here. well, that time is over - now we need to start "ATTRACTING" businesses back home. problem is, our politicians (both sides) talk a lot but do little else.

so now you have a water pump made in Japan because it's cheaper than having the EOM piece rebuilt an American. so I repeat - either wear that "Made in Japan" proudly on your waterpump or send it back - filing it off makes you a fraud.

Even our Flags are made in China now ,are you sure its just not good old greed .

But that's one of the things you can still find made here. It's a pita, but if you really don't want stuff made in China, you have to pay attention. I don't mind stuff made in Japan so much but China is the #1 place I don't want my stuff coming from!

I used to date a Chinese girl. She was built pretty dang good. I installed a few American made parts in her and she would really scream.

Well Thats Good Americans Are Employed For Lower Wages, No Union And No Benifits. I Think It's Kinda Why The Big 3 Guys Got Cut.
Still Is A Foreign Badge On The Vehicles.
I'd Prefer The Profits Stay In America On American Soil Not Go To Japan And Korea.
Don't Forget About All The Factories That Are On American Soil With American Workers And The Profits Stay Here In The Good Ol U.S.A.
Felt I Had To Defend The American Companies.
If You Like A Foreign Badge On Your Truck Good.
I Like American Name Plates On Mine.
Not Picking On Anyone This Really Was About A Waterpump.
Don't Mean To Be Out Of Line Just Defending Myself.
Id Return The Waterpump And Get A Different One Thats Made In The U.S.
If Everyone Did They Would'nt Sell Them Japanese Ones Anymore And The Companies That Make Them Here Would Have Hire More Americans To Make Em.

You're not outta line. It's a good discussion. I agree pretty mush with all you say. You DO know GM owns 18% of Toyota, right? I'm simply saying that companies who put Americans to work and allow them to be self sufficient, taxpaying, gainfully employed citizens can't be all bad, I don't care where they come from. I think in this economy, we need all the help we can get. We've surely give more than our fair share of help to other countries.

most stuff from japan is better quality then yanks, sorry to say, dont make em like they used to anymore with anything

Guys, it's not really taxation and regulation that's causing manufacturing jobs to go overseas, it labor cost.

Labor is the number one cost of manufacturing anything.

Actually, labor is the number one cost of running any business.

The developing asian countries can provide labor so cheap that it more than offsets the cost of shipping the products literally halfway around the world.

...and the solution is NOT simply to pay American workers less.

A living and most often above average wage is what makes our middle calss strong, and in turn our country strong.

I've not heard a convincing solution yet that addresses that multi-facited issues surrounding the outsourcing issue.

It's actually very easy to find flags still made here. Here's how you do it. Call your state's Secretary of State office. The Secretary of State in each state is also "The Keeper Of The Flag" for each state. Find out the price (usually not terrible) and they will send you an American made state and US flag. They are high quality.
