hello all
as you may know i just picked up 2 more mopars.
67 satellite convert with 318 auto and 66 hardtop 318 auto
i have the car going into body shop later this week. fender, door and quarters rust repair.
floor pans are not that bad but have seveal small rust holes. same with trunk. the top drip rail is rusted badly.
i was wondering if it is worth fixing all the rust or to just get back on road.
here are my options.
1. replace all the rusted areas with patch panels
hours and hours of work.
2. replace top rail and treat rust area cover with soundproofing on inside and undercoating on underside.
i prefer to put money into drive train and suspension and interior
disc brakes, sway bar, rebuild engine/trans, new rear gears and completely new interior.
i dont think that the car would benefit from a full restoration.

please provide me input!!!!!!!!!!!!!

For reasale body work and nice paint will bring you more money than drivetrain. Most people (me included) can do the mechancial with no problems but hate body work.

But if you are going to keep it, I would fix the drive train and put the money into the tank.

Your not going to get top dollar since they are 318 cars.
Unless you plan on keeping them, you'll be money ahead to put as little as possible on them.

From what I have heard. Bodie parts are not easy to obtain. which makes it that more expensive to rebuild.

Cool body style, just they will drain your account faster then a mail ordered bride.

not sure why you have 2 cars, but only talk like its just one.is one a parts doner or something else.a bit more explanation would help.plus are you keeping both for fun or selling or what?

Why did you buy rusty cars if you don't want to repair the rust?

Those cam with the patch panels to fix the convertible quarters, right?

I'm currently debating persuing the "driver quality" resto on my 66.
I'd love to do it "right", just not sure I have the money and energy.

Convertibles are always worth money, no matter the engine.

Are they Satellites or Belvederes?

FYI-

1967 PLYMOUTH SATELLITE 273-180hp (8cyl-2V) AT

2dr Convertible 2200 6300 11125 16625 25050
2dr Hardtop 1150 4025 7925 12075 19400

Add:
318-230hp (8cyl-2V) NC%
383-270hp (8cyl-2V) 10%
383-325hp (8cyl-4V) 25%
4spd manual trans 5%
Air conditioning 10%
Power windows 3%
Deduct:
3spd manual transmission -10%
Manual steering -5%

they are satellites
btw the convertable runs and drives, but no brakes or front seat
im headed to shop to pressure wash the underside and engine bay to try to remove the undercoating.
the hard top is in worse but better condition. there is more rust but isolated the the quarters and floor pans.
the second car was to be a parts car but it is in too good of shape to chop up.

up date, i got engine and trans out. so easy with my gantry! i will never use a chery picker again. chain fall is so easy to controll, easy to move around and very stirdy.

i have decided to remove all the rust. i will be replacing the r/l inner fenders, full front floor pan( for the cost it will be easier then patch panels) r/l rear floor pans, trunk pan(already have quarter extensions out). i will keep this post going as my progress contunues.

i have decided to keep the 318 in the convertable and put the 383 in the hardtop( unless my 16yr nephew wants the hardtop then i will swap)

i will have tons of questions as this build progressed so thanks for the replys
