Well it happened again. Another deal gone bad. I was at the nats. I seen a dics brake conversion kit for sale. I looked at the little display the guy had and asked some basic questions. He said the spindles are off an 80's fifth ave and the said they well work for my coronet. I asked about the master. Said i can just buy a replacement one from a parts house, they usually are under $20. Asked about the proportioning valve. He said he uses the stock one with no troubles. So I bought the kit. Got his card and he said if I have any problems with the stock "metering block" he called it, that he would send me one. No problem. Ok. So I got the kit home, opened it up. He has it all there with new hoses new bearings new calipers . But i get to looking.. they are both the same side caliper! So i gave the number on the card a call and i got some answering machine with some elderly womans voice on it. Can i ever get a break... no pun intended. But seriously. I have issues with another deal i had with some heads. Which wasn't the sellers fault. But its just not looking good for me at this point. Maybe i'd be better off selling all my stuff and getting a moped....
 
I personally find people at swaps are mostly there to lie and swindle to get rid of junk. There are a lot of strait shooters there too. But for the most part over priced junk. When you get it home doesn't fit. I'v had some experiences like this from the Barrie automotive flea market.
 
Well "ask and u shall recieve". I just got off the phone with the gentleman who I purchased the kit from. He was more than helpful and got a hold of the parts store that he bought the remand calipers from and he's got it set up for a straight up swap. A left for a right. This was a sigh of relief for me. I was getting pretty frustrated, not just about this, but everything that has gone wrong this week since I got home. My daughter and I loved the time we spent together at the Nat's and had a blast. In spite of the rainy, muddy mess.

I really appreciate this gentleman's attention to customer service and his manner of handling this situation. Now that i've delt with him in this way. I would recommend his kits to anyone. I should of said "Rant and you shall receive",lol.
 
That's really good to hear that it has worked out for ya.
 
There are some good folks out there. I recently bought a cam off Ebag. It was an old NOS comp grind. The PO lost the thing. The seller started a case for me. It never turned up. So, he called me himself to let me know he was gonna refund my money....even though he didn't insure it and I didnt pay for insurance. So......the cam pops up at my local PO yesterday and the wife ran by and got it today. All in one piece and NOS just like was described. So I happily paid the seller again. I think people are mostly good. Mostly. Glad you seem to be getting your deal worked out.

I am the same way. I love building carburetors. BUT, I HATE doing it long distance. Since I don't have a test mule (yet), I have no way to verify operation. On Holleys that's not so tough. With Thermoquads that's a different story. You really need to have a test mule to adjust them. Anyway, I built one for a friend over on FABO who happens to live in Oregon. I am in Georgia. I told him up front if his mechanic had trouble and could not overcome it, send the carburetor back and I would see if I could work it out or refund his money, whichever he wanted. I ended up refunding his money. It was a simple needle and seat failure from a defective part. I could not have found it since I had no way to test it.

Anytime I deal with people, I am 100% above board and up front. Stuff happens. It always will when the human equation is involved. But we can strive to make it as easy as possible for one another. Least that's how I see it.
 
Well I got the drivers side installed tonight on my 70 coronet. It went together with no worries. I did a little picture taking of the progress:

I couldn't leave it alone, so I painted the calipers and mounting brackets:

The spindles went on nice and easy. I reused my bolts from the drums as the lower arm of the kit was not needed, it was threaded and the bolts weren't long enough to bolt the spindle to the lower ball joint of my car. Here's a picture:

I like the fact that you can identify what each component would be offered in factory options / vehicles.

Really? I,ve found most mopar swappers to be straight up and chatty.Most i,ve met love to talk mopar and only beef I have is they know their stuff is worth a little more. I,m talking guys who only deal in mopar stuff though. Not people slinging anyones junk.
 
Well still sorting the breaks out. I put in a disc/ drum master for a 70 coronet with manual breaks. Picked up a break bleeding kit. Didn't work (idk) just my luck i guess. So I enlisted my 11 year old daughter to work the peddle and i worked the bleeders.

Just a note. I bench bled the master per its instructions. Although it wasn't what the shop manual described. It said to screw in these caps where the lines go, fill master halfway and stroke the piston... lol. So i did. Hooked it up and proceeded to bleed the lines. Left rear going forward till i reached the driver's side. After all was done ( i bled each line like 10 times before moving on) i checked the peddle pressure ( and yes i kept adding fluid to the master) there was none. I know its a basic hydraulic system. But for the life of me im at a loss. Anybody have any idea's here?
 
Both brake bleeders are at the highest point on the calipers? Bleeding should be started on the farthest wheel from the master....and yes, the master could be bad. Parts house masters are notorious for being junk.
 
Yeah the one i have pictured is on the drivers side. Bleeders on top. Damn I got the master from Car Quest hoping it would be a good quality rebuild..
 
Quick question for you fate; I have very similar calipers, do they recommend you grease/lube under those slider plates (secured by one bolt top/bottom)? I recieved zero instructions for my kit..
