i was looking at my shop this weekend and saw that i had enough leftover steel to build a rotisserie.
but i have concers about putting a convertable on one then replacing the f/r floor and trunk. i have some boor bars to support, but just wondering.
so how many people use a rotisserie?
 
No room for one so I fight the car on stands.....tall stands!

I was concerned about my body flexing so I temporarely welded several braces from side to side between the frame rails plus added support between the door areas.I also temporarely placed some going across the body from door jam to jam. it may have been overkill but I figured better safe than sorry.But when I installed the floor pan I let the body rest on jack stands.

As far as bracing, I sure would. I have a '68 ragtop on stands right now and a '69 Hardtop. I can tell you the vert is like a slinky up on stands compared to the hardtop. Can barely get the doors closed or the trunk lid. That should give you an idea how much these cars flex. Being a uni-body and you're removing large sections of the structural support, time to brace.
 
Here is my 69 Superbee on a rotiserrie.. You might be better of buying one from Auto Twirler.. Ball bearing for $1500 or sleeved $1200... less hassle. Mine is the ball bearing twirler and I can rotate it with a few fingers.
 
Convert...

I have had a couple of convertibles on my rotisserie, I just put in temporary sub frame connectors and door bars. just for GP if I were cutting out something like the floor, I would support the body from the garage floor until you have it welded in. don't put any extra weight in or on the car just the empty shell.
