Take it from a guy thats pulled hundreds over the last 30 years. PATIENCE is your best friend. I have pulled them and saved the gasket but your really better off with a new one. For gasket type shields a razor knife works well. I've seen lots of guys use some of the removal tools available thru tool distributors DONT USE THEM! They are designed for removing junk ones not good ones. Just cut away the outer lip of the seal (small piese at a time). Beware the glass may be stuck to the inner lip. CAREFULLY run a blade there to seperate it if needed.
