Greetings!
It's time to move my rear leaf springs on my '67 GTX inwards to allow for wider tires. Does any one have pictures of this relocation project from under the car? Do I have to narrow the stock gas tank? I'm not looking to back-half the car, just some wider meat in the 11 or 12 inch range. I'm willing to mini-tub also. The instructions and descriptions I have read don't explain the details well enough for me to figure it all out. ( "....well I just used the Mopar relocation kit PN ABC 123.....and BINGO!...I got 36 inch tires out back.....")!! :icon_confused:

A clear picture would be worth a million (pesos) to me!! LOL.

Thanks

No pics yet, but I'll be doing the same to my gtx this winter. I do know you won't be able to run the exhaust out the back with the springs relocated. I will be using a fuel cell, so I can run the exhaust out the back.

Here ya go! I did the spring relocation kit to my 66 belvedere. Cut the floor all the way to the frame rail. I actually did mine twice! The first time I mini-tubbed it I left the frame flanges on, which are about 3/4" wide, and my 295/50-15's rubbed on off camber driveways. Now that I'm restoring the car, I redid it removing the flange and have more room now. I had to bend the flange of the gas tank to clear the leaf spring, but didn't modify tank. In the pics, I have the inner shackel removed(I can't remember why now???) I think the trickiest part is getting the radius correct at the front and rear of the inner fenderwell. For the rear seat, you have to cut and relocate some supports in the back but the front stays the same. I didn't dress my ugly welds inside the car because they're hidden by the seat. In the trunk, I ground welds and finished with filler. Here's some pics. Good luck and go for it!

Mrbelv2, thanks for that description and set of pics! I'm also doing this (hopefully soon) to my '66 belvedereII and have been searching for this exact info.

Car is just a roller, awaiting paint. I think the shackels are like that because the leaf springs are coming off again. I just needed to get it rolling.

BINGO! Thank you very much for taking the time to take and send those pics. Thats EXACTLY what I needed to see and learn. I've had several folks look at the job and some have similar ideas and others have said "why bother" LOL "Cause she needs bigger meat on the rear end" !!!

This is getting me all fired up again to resume where I have stalled. Now, if I can just locate a filler-to-tank tube, I'll be all set to go!

Tahnks again
Dave:hello2:

I have a stock filler to tank tube, if that is what you are looking for.
