727 Speedometer Connection Size??

Need some help. My speedo is not working and I'm thinking its the cable. A section of it got too close to me header and melted a bit. Anyway, while I'm waiting for a cable I wanted to buy a Cap to screw over the male connection at the transmission to keep crap from getting into it. Anyone know what size this male connection is??? It looks to be either a 3/4" or 7/8" NF or NC??

It's probably neither. It's probably "proprietary." The old cable is ruined, right? Just saw it off, remove the gear/ cable, and pinch the end shut and screw it on.

I guess that's one way to do it I might just have to if I can't figure out the size.
