Donny's 1969 GTX

Hey roadrunnerman, thanks!

I got the rest of the trunk floor completely welded in today, (the other side) and finished welding up the right side pan too. Man, there's a LOT of spotwelding everywhere for sure! I'm going to grind down some of the welds, the plug welds are (mostly) flush as I run a very hot torch (each weld is a near-disaster weld thru) and the trunk pan welds I will dress up a bit, same with the floor pan welds. I also lowered the GTX rack/dolly jig thingy 2 inches, set it on, then off again to the lift to get more underside areas. I'm also going to tie the roof skin back down, as with the cowel cover, so, more spot welding for sure!

I just now need to hire me a clone to set him doing the other tons of **** I need to do myself!

I just also noticed I'm not a Gold Member anymore, must have run out of my yr program, will renew asap. Will have some pics tomorrow.

Eventually kdtjb, eventually!

However, today was a huge and yet another step forward! I got the roof skin clamped on, and welded on! The old spot weld cut outs, remember when I de-skinned it? Well, just lined 'em back up, clamp down the corners, and weld away! Its amazing how much the roof skin holds everything together! Tomorrow afternoon I will get the cowel welded back on.

Going to have to take another short break on the GTX next week as the W250 I'm building is time for the motor and transmission installation, and the systems with it, got to get it operational again so I can drive it around my yard, shop area, and onto the trailer for the trip to the paint shop! Plus, in the mornings I do my plastic media blasting on the insane pile of old steel furniture from a few picker/collectors in the area. Some way cool stuff in there for sure!

Pics tomorrow...yeah, I said this yesterday, but, for sure tomorrow!

Its been quite awhile since i said anything here, but i am following and one that is looking forward to the pictures, especially the roof ones!

Got the cowel welded on today, roof yesterday, here's the pics! The welds are raw, not dressed at all. When I dress them up, I will re-weld a few areas here and there that need it. The roof I was fighting copious epoxy primer (should have sanded the metal down first) but overall, its solid. The cowel I did sand down the areas, applied Transtar Weld-Thru primer (works ok, not perfect, but ok).

Going to sand down this horribly faded and compromised Black Epoxy Primer after a LONG 6 months outside...yes, I know, horrible! I NEED a bigger shop!

Looking good man....Slowly reshaping back into a GTX. Good to see you're finding time for the old Plymouth

Wow... I wouldnt know where or what to do...LOL
Some of you guys really amaze me with your skill and no fear attitude. I'd be scared to death to take a car that far.
I'll bet some of you can build them from the ground up from a pile of metal and bolts and iron ore..LOL

It's good to see you are on the track to putting it back together.

Finally, getting a sheetmetal order together for this car AND the Satellite, I'm at nearly 5 grand right now using AMD listed prices, should be getting it a bit cheaper from a dealer here in town.

Don't forget to order a lot of vise grip clamps. Since you are doing 2 cars you will need twice as many now... :toothy10:

you cpould use pop rivets...I can spare a few....IMAG0012.JPG

just send your address to canadianpost.com and I'll get'm out asap......
