What can I get for 5k

i paid 4500 for my 68 coronet 440
it was a 318 car a/t
someone put a 383 in it solid underneath body is fair but i will have to
put new rear quarters on it fix front fenders and some minor rust on the doors
i thought i paid to much for mine but they r some hard to find and they want good money for them no matter the shape

Most of you have seen my car.. what should it sell for?
The interior needs work for sure but as far as driving.. its solid, great driving/running car. Looks decent enough now but I would re-do a few things with money permitting

OK..... ill come clean on my last purchase. i bought a 66 Belvy II about 2 months ago. I didnt want to reveal the price i paid for respect of the seller....but since i have not seen him here on this forum since the sale.. i will tell you what i paid for it.

it needed alot of work...and i have since tossed about 3 G's in it....HOWEVER....they are out there....i think i was just in the right place at the right time....WHICH NEVER HAPPENS !

here is a " when i bought it" pic....and a pic of how it looks now.......i hope youre sitting down....because i got this car for 9 G's . no rust...no putty....solid as if it were new.. 46000 original miles on the body....new paint and a 440 thrown in. the price started out at 13 thou ! THEY ARE OUT THERE!

The price is a bit more than you stated you wanted to spend....but i just wanted to show you that prices are negotiable and there are some really clean cars for not a whole lot of money. im sure if the economy was in better shape....i probably wouldnt have bought this car because 13 thousand was out of my range !

Hahahahahaha....

So ... whats my car worth then?

I think the guy on some serious drugs myself.
It more like a 1,000 at best. No drive train, back glass, suspension, interior. and a 12k worth of body work & paint to say the least.

sweet!

I've seen quite a few decent '62-'65 B bodies going for 5K or less that are drivers - including my '64.

Guess a 69 runner for $3500 is too much to unless it was overlooked its in texarcana on craigslist

I saw that, loneagle that sounds like a great price as well.
So they are out there depending on how much I want to do and spend. Its hypothetical at this point and unless I get my price I wont sell my car.. which I said 8500 for... I think its a fair price considering whats out there for siimilar money. My car you could drive cross country if you had the money for gas...LOL maybe even under priced my car a bit I'm thinking... Prices seem to have made a come back on mopars now a days

Same Craigslist:

PS: THIS IS a nice car!

1966 Plymouth Satellite survivor
very original car, very little rust. a few pin holes and a little surface
body is rock solid no signs of prior damage, repainted in the 70s (over original paint)
interior is in excellent condition with bucket seats and console
318 poly 727 8 3/4 running gear, motor overhauled in the early 80s

I saw those.. the satellite is just to gentle man for me .. I want mean and nasty.. its a beauty dont get me wrong and if I could have 2 then it would be high on the list or the 65... Few decent Darts as well in there but they just dont do it for me.. nice gts and that red 65 posted on here is nice...
but if I sell the Sport Satellite then I need something to replace it like a RR or Bee ... or Charger if I got full price and then waited til I sell the z28 and then looked for a project... Just looking at options.. That RR is not a bad car for the money but transportation would kill me on it I think

Yea as I said earlier I find cars all over the country and some are good deals some are not my clone was $4700 I got it for $3200 my white 71 bee was only hold on to something $300 with title 2 owners I have found cars over priced priced fair and even great deals like this my 71 bee

Want something nasty? This car's been for sale for about a year. Mid 11's car, prob pretty ornry on the street. Offer him $8k i bet its yours. http://cars-on-line.com/51120.htm. I was in contact with him for a while - all you need to do is remove the vinyl graphics, bolt some mufflers on and role. Interior is mint.

5k could go two ways - you could net a pretty good A-body, or a pre 68/post 72 B in driver condition. OR, you can buy a 68-70 B or 72-74 E for restoration. The difference is that while you can drive the first two choices now and enjoy your purchase, they are not likely to go way up in value. While the later choices leave you with no car to drive for quite a long time, in the end, it will be worth a lot more. Pick a model that has a lot of repop metal out there, and you will be ok.
