i am restoring a 69 roadrunner i cant find formed foam for the front bench seat. can somebody tell me how they handled this on there's?

I don't think it's actually formed. When I did my 68 RR bench , I disassembled the seats my self before sending to the upholsterer. The foam I found looked like standard square foam that had conformed itself to the seat deseign over time. My seat covers came from Legendary and they sold me some new foam for just that purpose. It looks like about 4" of regular seat foam. I gave it all to the upholsterer after I blasted and repainted the frames. Mine look like a Factory job.

Talked to Legendary and they do not make a formed foam for bench seat but like 68 chicken said they will sell you a kit with everything you need to do the job.

You can get that foam from places like JoAnn Fabrics, Ben Franklin...etc. That way you don't have to worry about shipping and a lot of times my wife gets 50% off coupons so I'm sure yours does too. My upholstery guy did the foam for me and that is where he gets the foam.

When I redid my rear seats, I cut up a mattress cover made of 2 inch thick memory foam. Cheap at WalMart.

There are lots of new foam products coming out now days for both automotive and home use. Before buying "regular" foam for your project I suggest going to a custom shop auto upholstery shop and talk to them about it. Just because it is "new" does not mean it is not as good as the old......in most cases it is better.......
