Guitars 002 (Large).jpgDSC00398 (Large).jpgGuitars 001 (Large).jpgDSC00404 (Large).jpg

Listed in reverse order of acquisition

Vintage unknown Fender “Strat-acoustic”-
Wanted one of these seince they came out. Bought a drill press at a pawn shop that was a POS, and could only get store credit when I returned it. Eventually this turned up so I nabbed it. Has built in mic and EQ.

2010 Yamaha SG Bass-
Plays great, active electronics. Always wanted a nice bass. Lower “horn” could be more comfortable.
IMG_20121104_084129.jpg

Circa 1977 “Matsumoku” Westbury-
Interesting history of Matsumoku. Also made Aria Pro, Electra, Vox, and even Epiphone among others. Inherited this from my uncle, who hot rodded it with EMGs and active electronics. Plays as good or better than any Les Paul I’ve ever played.
IMG_20121104_084219.jpg

Circa 1965 “Silvertone” Dan Electro “Work in Progress” -
Thiking about painting this either Amber fire to match my truck or “purple burst” (OK, maybe black), have most hardware including lipstick pickup. “Some day I’m gonna restore it...” Also inherited from Uncle Buck.

1986 Charvel Model 2-
Bought this brand new. First run of mass produced Charvels after the company expanded from doing only custom builds for artists like Van Halen, George Lynch, etc. This guitar has a MUCH lower serial number than any I’ve ever seen documented on Charvel fan sites!! This is hands down the BEST playing guitar I’ve ever played. It is a sweet balance between a Fender neck and a Gibson neck. Extremely unique and prone to spoiling the player.

R/T pin has been there since '86.

When I was 16 I played for min 2 and sometimes 8 hours every day.
Now I'm lucky to play an hour a month :(

Heres mine, of course not me but my son with it, My dad bought it when he was a kid, Gibson Humming bird..

OMG.... a hummingbird......that thing is worth mega-dollars Ron. My buddy, about 4 years ago..pawned his hummingbird to me. i just got the money back a few weeks ago and thats how the Javelin happened. ! thats a nice guitar!

...and the one that got away...back in '86 I was looking to buy something to augment/replace my Squier Strat "entry level" model.
I looked at several, and got down to a decision between that brand new Charvel and a pawn shop Gibson flying V in white. Both were $500.
The pawn shop with the V didn't know anything about it, but I found a serial number guide (after the fact) that indicated it was a 1966 model.
I always kind of kick myself for that one, but I LOVE that Charvel, and it was much easier to hold and play.
The Charvel has actually held it's value (mabe more if you consider the extremely early production), but the V has got to be worth $3K or more.

Here's a pic of me a while back with my 1963 Fender Jazzmaster. Ended up selling it not long after the pic. I dont play anyhow . Some guy I used to know sold it and a Univox amp to me about 25yrs ago for $60 !!!

I bought a 2010 Gibson Les Paul "Slash" edition a couple of years ago. Have not played it, it just sits. I pull it out and drool on it once in a while! Sorry no pictures.

What's the deal with those ornate bridgeplates?
Is that a trademark feature of that brand?
They're pretty wild.

I submitted my serial number to the Charvel MIJ (made in japan) registry.
They actually do have one lower number, but it is for a serial number plate without a guitar!
So they don't even know if it actualy ever was on one!
My number ends in 02, that'd be a trip if it was the second one made.
