the small 65-66 unsilenced aircleaner is not the same as the later 68-69 unsilenced air cleaners as used on rr and gtx's there is a website called nicks mopar aircleaner id page or something that makes it all pretty clear as to whats what on mopar aircleaners.

correct...the 65-66 ones are not the same as the later years..he may have sold cars in 68 to 74...but fails to notice the air cleaners were different. The larger single snorkel was available on the 361 2bbl cars...and they would fit a 4bbl 383, but is not "correct" for that engine. Basically he mis-represented the sale claiming is was correct for the 4bbl engine in a 66 Charger. It may have been available on the 383 4bbl engine in another Mopar car line, but not the Charger

That is what I was kind of getting at...'66 383 4-barrel cars wore many different air cleaners. I have seen "original" 1966 b-body 383-4 cars with single and dual snorkel air cleaners but have not made any correlation to why.

So far most of the chargers I have seen have the small housing, but they are also sometimes found on other cars like the Plymouth I posted. I would guess that any air cleaner housing, as long as it was the correct vintage, could be found in any of the cars using the small throat carburetor (2 and 4-barrel where the same diameter).

The reason I bought this air cleaner is because it is so nice and clean and the price was right. Seeing that I am the "customer" here and am happy that is what counts. : ) I also picked up the dual snorkel that was here for sale too...

And unless I missed it on that web site I see NOTHING that shows a small, round, unsilenced air cleaner as ONLY SPECIFIC to the 66 Charger. Chargers were never built in a plant that built them exclusively, they were built with other B bodies. Having sold these cars new and seeing the inconsistences of items delivered new from the factory I can tell you that ANY ait cleaner could have shown up on a 383-4 regardless of which B body it was. We had a Dart come off of the transport new with Dart emblems on one sid and Scamp emblems on the other.

If a car was going down the line and the worker thought it was to get one type of air cleaner and the bin was empty then what ever would fit went on, end of story.

You guys can argue til the cows come home but I KNOW what MY Charger was delivered with.

well, it was not "delivered" to you when it was built..so there is another "mis-representation" also

the small round air cleaner was not specific to the Charger, it was available on others as well, the single snorkel air cleaner was not available on the 383 engine in the Charger. It may have been on other cars, but the 66 Charger only got the small un-silenced style

you don't get it, probably never will, as long as the buyer is happy, that's all that counts

That is true.
You will never get that substitutions HAPPENED OFTEN.
Also, as I said earlier in this thread, I have documentation back to the original owner on my car proving it was delivered with it.
I have misrepresented nothing and I take offense at the accusation.
