The background story may be too good to be true. Bought as a retirement gift (to himself) by a Chrysler Mechanic. Always maintained and garaged. Optioned just the way I would have ordered GTX, 440 4 bl, 727, A/C and lots more $2000 in totalView attachment 93186View attachment 93186 options. It might be a "one of one" we will see what GG says in due time. Now has 53k miles.

Thread in the newbie section http://www.forbbodiesonly.com/moparforum/showthread.php?45190-New-Owner-of-a-73-Roadrunner-Hi-All

Sorry for the poor placement of pix. I'll get the hang of it

I STILL HAVE SOME EXTRA CODES

FROM THE WINDOW STICKER

A01--LIGHT GROUP
A88--INTERIOR DECORE GROUP
J25--3 SPEED WIPERS

V9W --HOOD PERFORMANCE TAPE
W21 --RALLYE WHEELS
T93--TIRES

I NEED TO CHECK MY TRANSCRIPTION OF THE EXTRA CODES TO THE EXTRA ITEMS ON THE WINDSHIELD STICKER. MORE LATER.

LATER-I CORRECTED SOME CODES ABOVE-- I HAVE A "GB5" OR "G85" ON THE TRIM TAG NOT ACCOUNTED FOR?? ANY IDEAS??

FROM THE STICKER "A36 PERFORMANCE AXLE PACKAGE" SHOWS A 3.55 GEAR IN THE DECODE INFO BUT SEEMS LIKE A 3.91(SPEEDO IS CLOSE TO CORRECT AND RUNS 3300RPM AT 60MPH)

AND WHY TWO RADIO CODES ON THE TRIM TAG?

Looks like the guy that ordered it knew what he wanted for sure. Looks great.

Sweeet!

+1 more 73/74!!

Thanks for posting that coolant recovery code.
There's been some debate about whether that was standard or not and if so, what year did it start.
Even though my car has a/c, I don't think it had a recovery tank.
Now I can check for that code.

I corrected some of the codes initally read in bad light in the posting. Also one letter under a mount screw.

The big question is the rear ratio. Hopefully there's a tag on the axle. (is turning 3300 at 60 and the speedo seemed about right based on the milage markers and one minute to a mile. Hopefully 3.55 not the 3.91 but the rpm seems very high. running 225/70 14 tires which are close to the G70 14s that it came with.

No code on the tag for power steering shows S77 in the sticker?

G85 or GB5? on the tag?

GB5 should be your "B5" blue paint.

hi and welcome ,beautiful ,just beautiful love blue with white and a full vinyl top and a big block to boot thanks for sharing :headbang:

My 73 still has the old F70-14 Firestone Super Sports and with the 3.55 it spins 3000 at 60mph.
This web site has a decent calculator:
http://richmondgear.com/101032.html

Strange, Strange Strange. I ran the richmondgear calculation as follows 3.55 at 60MPH and with 26.2 dia for the F70 14s and got 2732RPM. I had to reduce tire size to 24in dia to get 3000RPM??

Forget the Richmond calculation--- the 3.55 is running at 3000RPM at 60. If I go 3.55 plus 10% I get 3.91. That makes the 3,000 times 10% gives 3300RPM. Conclusion, I have the 3.91. The tire sizes F70 and 225/70 are very close.

WA HO!!! its numbers matching! the number on the left is the correct block casting for the 440. Also the stamped number on the right side on a boss just above the pan is the vin#.

I always remember a high dollar Mustang at the Barrett Jackson who said the car belonged to two friends before him. The current owner knew it was the orginal engine from his friends. Ford had made an error in the numbers so he thought he was going to take around a 25k hit on the car because it couldn't be represented as numbers matching.

I found some more on the car ---built 10/16/1972 #1586 of the 1973 cars. Very early in the 1973 production run.

The EW1 trim code is UPPER DOOR FRAME WHITE/ ALPINE WHITE

The trim tag also has a "28" code?? still no answer as to what this is?

The trim tag shows a A31 HIGH PERFORMANCE AXEL PACKAGE which is a 3.91. The windshield sticker shows a A36 which is a 3.55 however based on the RPMs this is an error. The RPM calculators show something close to 4. so its a 3.91.

Really Cool! I just got the whole history on the car from day one. I talked to the son of the original owner.

The car was picked off the floor by his Father who worked in management at the dealership. His package included a new car every year --thats why it was a lease car. He wanted a Hemi but couldn't get one with air so he took the 440 wedge because of the air. He turned it in after the year with about 10k miles and it sat on the used lot. The gas crisis had hit in 74 and no one wanted the 440 engine. He made a low offer and it was accepted. Bought for $2,500 with new sticker of $5,000. He garaged it, maintained it carefully, and drove it sparingly until they decided to sell it in 2003 with an original 48k miles.

No information on the build sheet-- might still be in the car. No information on the lower rear end--"the car has a lot of grunt in low gear" you betcha with a 3.91! (windshield sticker is 3.55 but way too many RPMS trim tag shows is a 3.91)
