I have a 67 gtx 4 speed car it now has a dana in it but the fener tag says the car is a 4 speed code 3 the rear axle code is 48 which is a 8 3/4 323 sure grip I ran the fender tag on chargers.com it was a special ordered car no power steering or brakes console and 4 speed tach and fener mounted turn signals go figure who would order the car with a 8 3/4 the car was originally in ohio I bought the ca r on craigs list in lumberton nc the car was restored back in 98 the man passed and left the car his brother he got tired paying taxes on it so he listed it on craigs list can you say THANKSSSSSSSS any help on this would be apreciated

As we discussed in PM's...you either have a badly remade tag or a factory mistake on the tag if in fact is is a four speed car and shows an 8.75 rear end. U/1 only means the car was ordered by the end buyer. The buyer sat down with the salesman and checked the boxes of things they wanted. (Not possible in today's world) U/1 does not indicate a 'special order' car. The SO number is a standard SO for a GTX and indicates nothing special about this car. It is doubtful Mopar would violate their own policy and procedure by installing an 8.75 behind a four speed car when the Dana was specified. It would only cause them problems on the warranty end.

Do you know for a fact this is the original tag or could it be a reproduction? I would not base my claims of the car coming with an 8.75 solely by the fender tag when the possibility of a badly reproduced tag exists. Any chance you can post a picture of the tag?

No 4 spd 67 GTX came with a 8 3/4 3.23 rear. Does your fender tag date and SO number match the hidden number on the rad support. Something is not right.

I agree with your analysis completely. I too am waiting to see a photo of this fender tag also.

I dont know whats wrong with the tag.....

I know you love the car and are excited to have it. I know how I felt when I found out my tag was a bad remake. I'm sorry to be the bearer of bad news.

Did you receive my PM explaining the errors?

What is the giveaway that it is a remake? Now I am wondering about mine! Thanks.

The giveaway on my 67 GTX was that the fender tag was for a 67 Belvedere 318 4 door. I guess someone thought any fender tag was better than no fender tag. At least it was date correct!

My understanding is that the RS23 indicates GTX where as a Belvedere would be an RL or RH. What am I missing here? Thanks
