Hello everyone, This is my christmas present a barfind. Unmolested 1969 Charger RT 440 4 speed bearing her factory paint all intact only missing her factory wheels, radio, and shifter knob, displaying a surprising low 37,000 original miles. She has been shaded from sunlight for 30 years with no rust, interior is all intact and in excellent condition. I am keeping her but have not decicded how to go about restoring her. I could play in my spare time but she would never look like a total restored car. The engine compartment needs re done and I guess I will have to paint the whole car cause of light scratches of surface rust forming. I am opossibly thing of taking her to a very reputable Mopar restore if there is such a thing. Would they still take the car all apart and do a frame off. Being she is in great condition will this save me any cost. I am lookinhg for any advice out there. Should I retain her factory color and keep her white roof, take her to a restorer or slowly just get her road worthy.

WOWWWWWWW.......NICE FIND !. actually theres no such thing as a "frame off" restoration on a mopar. they are uni-body construction and will need a "rotisserie restoration. im in pa also...25 miles south of DA-BURG [email protected] did you find this car ?

Welcome to the site. Nice score, that car looks like a nice solid original piece. Without knowing your budget, resto shops=large investment, I would try to get it running and see what else it needs to be road worthy. If all it needs is a hot battery, fluids changed out, engine oiling system primed, and some new gas to get it running, that is where I would start. Brake job, front end rebuild, shocks, may be needed. It may need the tank boiled or replaced, I would start it on a fuel can first. After some cleaning it may be presentable as it is, just wax it up and keep inside in a garage/shop. Cars are only original once and seems that cars like yours are gathering as much attention as fully restored cars at shows and cruise-ins. Drive it like that for a while and if you choose the full "frame-ON" , our cars are uni-body, not full frame, then you can always do that later after finding all the parts and such you will need for a full resto. I like cars with patina and yours looks straight and solid enough as is to be proud of as a "Street Survivor"! Good luck with it and keep us posted

VERY COOL!
That is one solid car!!!! I would see how well it cleans up first too!

Real nice find, I agree with previous post. Cars are original only once. Take your time looks like you could polish that gem!

It looks like alot work!I'll take it off of your hands!LOL Great find! I'd do a complete resto if it were mine! Good luck with it,Just don't do another General Lee clone really tired of seeing all them JMO

Welcome, nice car thanks for pics......great find, more proof that a lot of great cars are still waiting to be found...

First off,
Welome to the site! What a great find, Merry Christmas to you!!! I for one would be interested in knowing the
back story of how you came about finding this treasure.

As for "restoring" this car, You might be surprised at how presentable it may be by just getting it cleaned up and going through the mechanicals.

As others have stated, it's only original once so I would keep it as original as possible, What a time capsule. Oh, And make sure to dump the Trailer hitch!

Good luck!

I definitely would NOT do a complete resto on that car. If it is as solid as it looks, just wash it buff it out/wax it, clean the interior and get running good. That car is worth so much more as a survivor because as others have said they are only original once. If there is exterior surface rust coming out, clean it off and have those areas spot painted/matched to the the original paint. The drive and enjoy the car. Why spend big bucks restoring a car that does not need a complete resto. I wish my 72 RR was in have the shape your Charger is in.

Hey, is that the Dirty Mary and Crazy Larry car????? Oh yeah it didn't end well for that car..... LOL!!!

Great lookin' car you got there. Love the old school slotted rims!

Welcome aboard too!!!

I'm with the majority. Give it a really good cleaning and see how it looks. Keep it as original as possible.

Wash it, buff it and then wax it, see how it turns out. Good find and welcome to the site!

Close to my home 18 ,miles away but it was like dating the preachers daughter.

Love the car just the way it is. If you are able to get it road worthy, I would do that and drive the hell out of it for a while!!!
